Great set of photographs, but like most of these lists, it should be called, "10 or so of the greatest iconic photos from history, and the rest are the best photographs from the last few years that we are aware of."

Wow...that picture of the lady soldier crying and holding her child along with the dog laying by its owner that was buried really got me. You show me pics of these kind and it will turn me into a ballbaby every time.

A list of the most powerful picture without this one? Makes me scratch my head.

That picture of the firefighter giving the Koala bear some water during the bushfires was ******* awesome. I hadn't seen that one before.

Great pictures but it shouldn't say "ever taken". About 10+ of these from recent years won't be remembered in the next 5 years.

Or Jack Ruby shooting Oswald, or the monk on fire, or the Vietnam napalm photo, or the people falling from the fire escape, or the David Kirby AIDS photo...lots of major ones missing here but still a great set overall.

Exactly. There were a lot of historic pictures that were left out. Such as the flag raising on Iwo Jima, the girl running from the napalm bombing of her home in Vietnam, and so on. I also noticed a complete lack of any pictures prior to WW2. Certainly there were some powerful ones taken during the American Civil War.

I also immediately thought of the naked Vietnamese girl from the Life magazine cover, Ruby shooting Oswald, 9/11, Hiroshima/Nagasaki, Marilyn Monroe on the storm drain, etc. Some of those are WTF. And definitely a political slant to a lot of them.
