I am Looking to get 4 new tires for our little elantra
P195 65R15s 65K warrenty

Firestone quoted me $450.00 for installed and balanced.

So, Let me know CyFanatic Tires guys.
Reasonable deal, or am I getting hosed?

If so, where else should I look?

Go State.

Go to tirerack.com and check their price for the same model tire. That will be near the lowest price you can find.

Solid advice to check tirerack, but don't forget to factor in the installation cost once the tires arrive. Costs can vary widely (~$30 at Walmart with no lifetime balance/rotate to ~$100 at other places).

Another ditto for tirerack.com. It's like a Consumer Reports service dedicated to tires with great prices. Awesome site if you take tire-buying seriously. They will ship your order to your choice of local installers as well.

Depending on what tire they're selling you for $450, I wouldn't be so fast to consider that a good deal. If it's a Firestone, you can get the a set of 4 of tirerack's highest rated Firestone for $292. For $450, you should be able to get some nice Michelins that will be a MUCH better tire.

Check out this link for some tires in that size: Tire Search Results

Here is a thread from about 2 months ago on the same topic.

http://www.cyclonefanatic.com/forum/off-topic/132687-car-tires.html

The message below from that thread may help.

Just got tires installed about a week ago.

I used TireRack and ConsumerReports to pick out the top 2-3 tires that fit my preferences, then price compared those at Sams Club, WalMart, and TireRack. TireRack has "preferred" installers that will charge about $80 to install all 4 tires, and the tires will be shipped directly to them. Another bonus with TireRack is no tax, but the shipping costs are actually a little higher than what you save in tax. If you have the tires shipped to your residence, you can bring in the tires to WalMart and they will install them for about $60.

After all was said and done, Sams Club had a free install for Goodyear tires, so the price ended up being the same as going through TireRack and paying for the install.

Tirerack does identify preferred installers, but you can have them shipped/installed elsewhere. The last set I bought through tirerack I had had mounted and balanced for $12 per tire.

Tirerack good idea but use it to read the reviews on the tires your thinking of buying, you can even find a review of somebody with the same car. Check out big O tures too.

Don't forget Costco. I've also used tirerack with good luck but when I did I bought tires and rims.

Tires Plus Coupons | Tires Plus Total Car Care

I got a similar deal at Tires Plus 2 years ago. Already had to replace the falkens. They seemed fairly well rated, but look around if you consider these. The tread will disappear in no time.
