Looking like we will need to fill two guard spots with Gilbert and Jones leaving (assuming Curtis doesn't get an extra wavier for the year he played at Indian Hills). Our scholarships look to be 13 next year. Depending on the court rulings that could increase to 15 spots which is the current roster limit. We will have some room to fill with some dudes. Iowa State next year will be an attractive transfer destination. Here are some guys I am keep my eye on that fill what TJ has gone after in the past; Midwest ties, multiple years, low ego, "transfer up" type guys:

Abdi Bashir Jr. - two years to play
Terrence Brown - two years to play
Treysen Eaglestaff - one year to play
Bennett Stirtz- one years to play.. doubt he'd leave his coach as he followed him to Drake but kid can ball
Conor Enright - stats don't jump off the page but he's a pass first guy and very efficient. One year to play

Any other guys of note?

These two would be solid but suspect they are going to have everyone in the country after them if they decide to transfer and so far TJ has not been a guy to go against the top dogs in the Transfer portal.

Abdi Bashir Jr. - two years to play
Terrence Brown - two years to play

Heise and Chatfield are playing their 5th seasons. Bateman Moore Toure are signed 2025 guard recruits. I believe there is one open scholarship right now. Maybe I am overlooking something?

Heise has another year I believe. Covid year in 2020-2021. Medical redshirt for 2022-2023 when he only played 2 games.

Heise can potentially come back next year, this is his fifth year yes but he missed all but two games in the 2022-23 season with injury, so there's a possible medical redshirt there (maybe he already was granted this redshirt, not sure).

Go get Isaac Asuma from Minnesota. Bowing out on his recruitment and taking Dwayne Pierce was baffling to me but it does allow Asuma to log heavy minutes this year. Won't have huge numbers but he looks like a great fit for our system and can take over PG from Tamin in 2026-2027.

Gilbert, Jones, and Chatfield are the 3 guys we are going to have to replace(I doubt Jones gets another year). The question is, is their replacement on the team, committed, or coming from the portal?

Chatfield- I hope JT Rock is the guy here. Step in and play some solid minutes and eventually as an upperclassman become a starter.

Jones- Probably need to replace Jones in the aggregate. I think Tamin and Nojus could maybe each take a step and do that. I would also love to see Jamarion Batemon be that guy as a freshman. Super high on him.

Gilbert- Keshon will be the hardest to replace and I think will come from the portal. Maybe we only need 1 portal guy next year and we can go after a higher ranked transfer? But hard to speculate who that could be with the portal opening in 4 months.

We got to the game about an hour early Saturday and I was blown away watching JT in warm ups. He has obviously done a ton of work on his body and overall athleticism. Hopefully that work pays off and he can see some good minutes next year. I don't expect we'll see this come game time but he was also 7/10 from the logo in warm ups.

Looks like 4 guys graduate (Gilbert, Jones, Jackson and Chatfield) and 4 recruits coming in, all guards or wings. Assuming Heise comes back we would be at 13 scholarships however the new NCAA rule allows a 15 scholarship roster so 2 openings. TJ would probably go after a portal big to replace Jackson and Chatfield and maybe a portal guard.

Roster lists him as redshirt senior however I see he missed one of his 3 years with an injury at Washington State, with last year at Charlotte he might have a medical redshirt available.

We need an elite scorer to replace Jones and Gilbert and another big defender/rebounder to replace Chatfield.

Nojus’ development between now and next season might be the difference between another elite team versus a solid tournament team. Replacing Jones and Gilbert is no easy task. Excited about the incoming class but relying on Freshman is tough.

Would love to see this be the year we get a top transfer who is a proven scorer. Get those We Will donations flowing.

I'm guessing we'll take a hard look at Isaiah Johnson-Arigu. Not sure if we were in on him at all first time around.
Minneapolis kid. Went to same HS as Watson. Maybe a connection there.

Need more guard help next year but this kid has a lot of years left to play.

Well all know a couple guys will likely transfer out. It happens every year now. I can guess a couple but not fair to/allowed to post names….but you have to expect we will have room for 2-3 transfers.

He hasn't played a lot, but JT Rock looks the part in his limited minutes of a long defender who can protect the rim, but also have the physicality to be a solid rebounder.

And still just a true freshman age wise. I’m excited to see what he becomes at age 20 or 21, after he’s been battling guys like Jones, Jackson etc for years in practice and has a few years of college S&C

I’m betting he’s a quality Big 12 big as a redshirt sophomore and even better as an upperclassman. The biggest issue is whether we believe in giving development minutes to guys. There are equally good programs where he can get decent PT in blowout buy games, and spot minutes on other games
