Agree. Hope Sano does heat up mid-season and there is some out there that would take a trade flier.
For what though? A reliever? To me, even with all the frustrations his bat can entail, he can and will get hot. And our pen has been just fine. There isn't a glaring need there like one would have potentially thought. I am not convinced the juice is worth the squeeze there. Not to mention when there isn't a halfway decent, non-injury prone backup option at 1B.

Most Twins fans said the same thing about Kennys Vargas. At least moving on from him didn’t come back to haunt.

It hasn't been since 2018 that he was actually a net negative. Its just silly to say so.
Not exactly.

If the bar is only a positive WAR, then I don't know what to say. I find it hard to believe the Twins couldn't find someone else either by cheap trade or via farm system and achieve a .9 WAR on the year. That's a low bar to clear.

I do understand this is the rub. Looking internally for a replacement rather than via trade would be more likely.

The issue I have with everyone constantly saying, "wait for the the hot streak", is that his hot streak only gets his stats closer to average on the year. And his hot streaks can't be counted on at any point, so it comes down to dumb luck when it happens.

I recognize this is just me ******** about a player who probably isn't going anywhere this season, but I'm so tired of him boasting about being in the best shape of his life only to watch him hit like Cerrano every year.

I was going with OPS+ on baseball reference when talking about it.

I'd take a pitcher or catcher prospect.
Is there another Ryan in the Rays camp that we can steal?

You bet they do. They a full of arms. They are as well oiled of a machine organizationally as there is in the majors. (Which makes taking two of three down there more impressive) But they might be harder to cut a deal with this next time around if Ryan keeps throwing like this.

You aren't getting much of anything for Sano (unless he goes on a hot streak). He's no Cruz, and thats not an insult to Sano.

He's off to a horrible start following up really one out of four seasons where production was good given his position and defense.

Not to mention the style of hitter Sano is just doesn't usually have much success in the postseason. The tight rotations and simply better teams/staffs means you are going to have to battle at the plate and put the ball in play.

This is the big problem with the three true outcomes approach is that it might get you to the playoffs, but contact is king in the post season. Teams that win in the postseason have high contact rates.

Twins have now won 10 of their last 11. And Rocco has finally figured out his closer should be the 102 mph flame thrower Duran.
Duran is the man. Hopefully he stays this effective. His splinker (or whatever he calls it) is the perfect sauce for his cheddar.

Wasn't he another piece of the AJ trade discussed last week? (Liriano to CWS for Escobar who became Duran + 2 others from AZ)
