I think we need to quit hoping for AE at 141
He's a grown man and was last year, so it is possible for him to make 141 which is why so many are hoping for it since it improves our lineup a lot. He did say he was moving up and I'll never criticize a guy for going the weight he thinks Is best. That said 141 should be interesting between frost and redding I would guess.

But it doesn’t improve our lineup if he’s unable to compete at his potential. Could he make it, I’m sure he could. He seems to think it would be better for him to go up. I’d rather have a finalist at 49 then a DNP at 41 because he sucked too much weight all year.

Ech is a fat sow. Hope he can make heavy.

Cmon guys…
I don’t think anyone is implying that but when a guy immediately says he’s moving up weights there is obviously a reason.

With that said, Ech proved to be a big team guy with his cutting sacrifice last year so it wouldn’t shock me if he was asked to and agreed to it again, just seems far fetched.

If he thinks 49 or 57 are his best weight that's where he should be and I don't think dresser will ask him to go down. It is possible he loses one or both of those wrestle offs.

After talking to a few of the RTC guys at the open practice, this is what I've gathered:

125: Terakina/Grice
133: Osmanni
141: Frost
149: Ech
157: Chitt/Paniro
165: MJ
174: Naak
184: Bockman
197: Carroll
Hvy: YB

A lot of this makes sense to me. I don't know anything about Osmany so I can't speak to that. Also, I assume we're talking about E. Frost at 141?

My biggest question with this lineup is MJ at 165... Is that really a thing? It's just a surprise to me if it's true. He ended up being really good, but he always seemed like our only real option at 174 last year and I was assuming he would stay there. I guess if he can make it down then it'll be hella fun to watch his length and funk down there.

Edit: Also, maybe Naak is just better sized and doing well at 174 now?

Big fan of MJ and Naak going 65/74 if that’s the case.

I know MJ was growing into the weight, but just never felt like he was going to a big 174. Now, I feel like he needs to improve his gas tank and cutting more weight typically help that. We’ll see though, because he’d be a big 165 who could horse some dudes around with those big moves he hits.

Naak has always looked like he was wrestling a weight too big through high school. I think being a leaned shredded 174 is a great spot to be.

I don't even know where to watch for announcements about wrestle offs or the schedule being released. I'm counting on you all to keep me in the loop.
Follow Iowa State Wrestling social media pages (X/twitter, Facebook, and Instagram) they announced about them on there last year
