Kick catch interference? You can't call a fair catch if you kick the ball into the ground and it bounces? That's the whole point of an onside kick?
Right! Why wouldn't every hands team on an onside kick just signal for fair catch then? Is that really the rule?
No the rule is, once it bounces off the ground, you CANNOT call a fair catch. This is why onside kicks are the way they are.

I would have liked them to bring on Mike Peirera to explain that onside fair catch. I have never seen that before.
Did Tech kick it right into the ground? I haven't seen a replay angle. I thought he did.
Just rewinded my stream. He did kick it into the ground. Fair catch should NOT have been applied.
If you re-watch it, he kicks it right into the ground and it bounces up immediately. It hits the ground first.

It doesn't though? They showed a replay and he clearly kicked it up and not off the ground.
