Saw on the news a young lady kicked the winning points in a game today. 1st woman to score a point in a H.S. football championship.

I'm assuming that's part of the huge Dome reno that'll be announced after the first of the year...
I told a buddy when I was in there last week for the semis that I really do not understand why they can’t get some big signage on those massive grey walls, like big ass panther logo or two. Or even some purple paint on the brick. The building feels so old and this isn’t gonna fix it. But I’ve been in old buildings where some signage like this can really change the feel of a building and it’s not a massive expense.

Got me thinking, who provides the clock operator? I know one of the teams provides the chain crew, do they provide clock people also?

For the dome games, chain crews are generally "neutral." Example: Iowa Falls-Alden crew is doing 2A and 3A today.

Clock and scoreboard people are most likely UNI. Their equipment is a patchwork of multiple systems (of course), so it'd be a little harder for someone to just drop in and start running it.

It's almost like UNI is trying to lose paying customers.

UNI Administration is an absolute disaster right now. David Harris is blatantly incompetent and, apparently, just an awful person behind the scenes to the point where we're burning through staff like a fast food joint.

Going back to the previous AD, if it costs more than free, it costs too much and we can't have it.

The Dome is getting a $50Mish reno that will be announced in January or February. The majority of the money is coming from the state tourism bureau because of the high school playoffs. David has a $5M lead gift and there's a naming rights deal coming but the rest is all state money which I have decidedly mixed feelings about.

Reducing capacity to around 13,500. All new seating, expanding the concourse to the street on the West Side with all new restrooms and concessions on both sides, enclosing most of the plaza between the Dome and McLeod Center for event space, new audio/video/lighting/ribbon board, new administrative offices and meeting space above the new west concourse.

We'll see if it actually happens because we're about 3 years into 'we're announcing it next month'

Interesting. Since they expanded to seven classes, which means 14 semifinal games instead of the old 12, I wondered if IHSAA would consider splitting across multiple sites moving forward. They could have done something like 8/A/2A/4A at Jack Trice and 1A/3A/5A at Kinnick, and then switch the next year (or they could keep the Dome in this rotation, too, and use 2 of the 3 stadiums each year). That would have allowed them to play all of the semifinals in two days instead of four. But, it sounds like they are committing now to keep everything at the Dome moving forward.
