Re: 2018 Recruit

Has the new staff extended an offer to Darren Jr, or is it a little early in their tenure to start thinking that far ahead?

I like that Campbell isn't afraid to go after kids that we really don't stand a chance at getting. No fear.

I don't really follow or know much about recruiting, but what have you got to lose? Offer 100 5-star guys, if even 1 comes to ISU its a big impact. Is there any downside to overoffering guys that are prob going to Bama?

I don't think they should do that????? Offer a few five stars early if you think there is a reason they would consider ISU. Offer more four stars early and sell them by being really proactive and build relationships. There is only so many minutes and a limited amount of staff who can recruit. Must use every minute of recruiting wisely. Maximize the return.

Re: 2018 Recruit

The thing I can't get over and promise never to take for granted is the willingness of this staff to take swings at top recruits. You're not going to get a large majority but it only takes one or two to make all the difference, never settle. Rhoads would get the occasional one but most were leftovers

Re: 2018 Recruit

5 star guys sometimes have teammates who get overlooked because the 5 star gets all the attention. Happens a lot in Florida. Campbell and staff are hitting Florida pretty hard and targeting some high level talent. Not sure if they have contacted Darren Jr. or not. I sure hope so. He's probably gonna end up at FSU or Miami, but we'll see what happens.

Darren Jr. freshman highlights:

The move he makes at the 1:20 mark... wow!!!

This is a freshman playing against some very good competition! He has very quick feet, nice cuts and really good field vision for his age. Columbus HS has several guys with big time offers (some have ISU offers), yet Darren was the only freshman on the varsity squad. I'm tellin' ya, this kid is going to be special.

Yeah everyone went to see Nerlin Noel and we ended up getting Niang. So yeah sometimes there are players on a 5 stars teams that are way over looked.
