Weird because last week the AD said he was staying.

I don't know if any current college coach is looking to make the jump to the NBA, but there will probably be a handful of openings at that level in a week or so -

Washington, DC
LA Lakers
New Orleans
Minnesota (maybe?)

Minny is the exact reason I though Hoiberg to Nebraska was a complete joke. I thought he would get a shot at that job.

Yeah, that had crossed my mind too. And I figure that either a) Hoiberg had some inside info that Saunders was going to be the permanent replacement or that the Wolves were going in another direction, or b) Hoiberg was damaged goods after his Bulls stint and no team in the league will touch him until he can rehab his reputation back in college.

TBH, I think Cincy is a better job than Cal, Nevada, and StJ. It'll be interesting who they get. Billy Kennedy is available.

Thad Matta has been angling for a job too.

Way up there
As backup-backup plans go it's pretty good. Odd fit, though. You don't typically associate the Pac 12 with the physical style of Cronin's teams. Who knows? Maybe that's exactly why it'll work.

Weird hire, he's a good coach but maybe not the best cultural fit. Maybe they want a Howland type again.

St. John's won't be open long. They are gunning hard for Bobby Hurley. So that would open up the ASU job.

Such a low bar to be good in the Pac12. Jumping the curb.

Boy I googled NVE to see what his coaching career has been like and it seems like he's paid his dues.
I also came across some articles about his son. Not to sidetrack the thread but that's an interesting story to say the least.
