That's quite the 2016 you've had. Most people I know make resolution lists like this and maybe touch 10% of them..and lose interest in the others by March. Well done!

you could say I'm goal-oriented. I used to make goals that were not achieved due to vagueness and just being unrealisitc. So now I go after things I know are more doable.

2. Lose weight. Just want to get to an average/acceptable weight.
3. Increase my savings in to my retirement accounts.

have you ever used myfitnesspal? Pretty good place for tracking food and seeing where your pitfalls are.

2017 -

Get 10 more pages of cross stitch done (caveat if someone announces a pregnancy that I have to switch projects for like the past 5 years)
Try more new recipes, one per month
Paint more rooms of house
Landscape work on another portion of the yard
Plan and go on UK trip
Do 8k race in spring, faster than last year
Maybe do a 10k race if I'm crazy enough
Read 40 books
Maintain weight..prefer to lose but have not won that battle the last couple years
Drink less
Get excellent work reviews
Have combined salaries of spouse and I in retirement accounts

easy peasy list

Don't mind me. I'm just judging and scoffing. Try a challenge!

Speaking of challenges:
1. Finish PhD in December. Should be a go there.
2. Since I'm breathing and stuff, Green Bay Marathon in May.
3. Dream goal: qualify for Boston Marathon
4. Dream goal #2: Survive job market and land in a nice job.
5. Publish a couple articles this year while I'm at it.

Back to writing about telling parents to do their job!

I do have a food tracker on my current phone. But I haven't used it a lot. I will be getting a new phone soon, so I will try and use it there. One of the problems though with a food tracker is that when I make my own food, its hard to judge how much I am actually eating (pasta/rice).

a lot of people swear by a food scale. Or at least measuring out a cup of rice or cup of pasta so they can monitor that more accurately. I will create my own recipes in MFP and then divide it into how many servings I know we normally get.

dude, a 10k would be a major challenge for me! I need to find a doable plan to ramp up to that. Even for the 8k since I haven't run since like, October.

It's really kind of sad to see that you aren't really pushing yourself this year. :D

oh yeah, 10 pages of my cross stitch is about 20,000 stitches. So, yeah. That's ambitious. Guess I did it this year too though.

You could ramp up to a 10k in 6 weeks.....

I could, but I'd burn out like I did last summer. I may try to go out tomorrow or Sunday and see what 3 miles feels like. Finally have shoes I'm comfortable in so hopefully the blistering/ankle pain is good. Didn't have ankle pain when I got to six miles in August.

Workout at least twice a week (signed up for a gym membership today)
Eat healthier (my fiance is going to be monitoring my diet now that we are engaged haha)
Get married (got a wedding date set)
Finish 4 more MBA classes in 2017

I think I am on a good start!
