Help: Cyclone Fanatic App for Iphone

I am getting the same results when looking for the iPhone app. It has not been available for at least the last week.

Anyone see the 1989 game in Tulsa?

That was 1985 I think. It was Johnny Orr's first NCAA trip with Iowa State. We had played in the NIT the prior year. 1986 is then when we beat Michigan in Minneapolis.

    Drake Coach to CO State

Simply as a reference for those talking about the attendance at Drake, they averaged 3195 people for their home games this season. By comparison UNI average 4090 and Loyola (team headed to the Round of 8) was dead last in the Valley at 2405 people. Bradley led the MVC in attendance at 5699...

    JEFF GRAYER

Jeff did get his degree from ISU in 2005. He was hired by McDermott (just prior to him leaving for Creighton) to be an assistant, but then Fred made him Director of Basketball Operations instead. That is when Jeff decided to go back to Michigan as he had a preference for coaching.

    Pre-Memorial Day Hoiberg NBA Update

I disagree with the comment that there is not much Fred can do. Fred could give the ultimatum to the Bulls that he needs an offer in a designated amount of time. He does have the ability to put some pressure on them if they truly want him. Additionally, Fred could make a public appearance and...

    WWJD- What Will Jamie Do?

Hornacek was actually an all-star one year, and did play in the NBA Finals. He was earning $6 million per season with his last contract, so he would definitely have immense credibility from an NBA perspective. Regarding Fred, he makes more now as a coach than he ever did as a player in the...

    WWJD-What Would Johnny Do?

I believe Johnny had one more year left on his contract, and he would have been allowed to coach the final year. However, Gene Smith did not give any indication of extending his contract beyond that. These issues were working against ISU on the recruiting front. Johnny did resign as coach...

Fran Fraschilla calling out Bill Self?

Agreed. I heard Fran on Sirius radio yesterday, and he made the same comments about Izzo when discussing the punishment for Jim Boeheim. It may have been the writer trying to connect the dots to Self.

Oklahoma's Mike Stoops wants to see lineman downfield rule examined

Actually, the article in which Bob Stoops offered support of the Big 12 officials was from October 5th of "2012". Many people on here have interpreted the Tulsa World article as a reaction to the Jamie Pollard comments, but the reality is that it was from two years earlier. There may be other...

Since the "program changing victory" against Okie State in 2011…

Just remember that the ridiculously soft schedule he had n 2009 is what Danny Mac enjoyed every season. I agree that if we do not win enough games to be bowl eligible this season, then a change may be necessary. I still think Paul Rhoads is a good fit at ISU, but another disappointing season...

    Rhoads' Contract

I believe it was the Pittsburgh opening that actually initiated the extension. I think that was a more legitimate opportunity for PR than was Wisconsin.

Latest on the non-con hoops schedule

Iowa State played at Minnesota during the McDermott years, so it has not been all that long. We actually did a home and home at that time. We also played at the Metrodome in the late 90s for football, and lost at the very end of the game.

    TTU attendance: 5,681

SMU opened their renovated arena today. The new seating capacity is about 7500 people, so comparable to the Knapp Center and McLeod Center. It was their first sell-out in many many years.

    Jeff Hornacek

I remember the comments at well. It was to the tune of "I didn't realize they were going to go this direction." You are right, it was not a slam or anything, yet you could read into it that he may have been interested in the job if he thought he had a chance. Where Fred had the advantage is...

    John Feinstein article on Johnny

Johnny only had one more year left on his contract. He had a great class coming back, and could have left in style in what would have been a great final season. However, he would have left the cupboard bare for his replacement, and he didn't want to do that either. Because of his age and...

    LE

Larry and Tom Jurich, the athletic director at Louisville are lifelong friends. They grew up together in Arcadia, Calif., attended the same middle school and the same high school. They played together on the Arcadia High School basketball team. I do not think Larry ever interviewed for the job...

    Johnny Orr shuffle?

Lou McCullough was the athletic director who hired Johnny. He called Johnny looking for recommendations. Johnny suggested Bill Frieder, but Lou said he needed a name coach because he had struck out with his previous two hires. They talked awhile, and when Johnny found out how much they were...

    B12 MBB Coaching Salaries

For what it is worth, Fred never collected the big dollars in the NBA. He made $1.76 million his last year with the Timberwolves. Through the years, he was always a very important role player, yet never quite reached that next level as his career was cut short. By comparison, Jeff Hornacek's...
