Id guess he doesnt.

8 years in this case is probably more about us being able to lock Campbell up at a discount.

If things go well, it saves ISU money over the long run. If somehow **** spirals and he has to get canned in year 4-5, you don't end up paying any more in total than if you'd had a shorter but more expensive contract.

The buyout if he leaves probably doesn't matter too much if the common belief is true- that the only places he'd likely leave for would be that top tier of Ohio State, Notre Dame, etc. They could afford whatever buyout anyway.

Might be he's all-in for locking himself up. CMC did not have to accept the money or the terms.

Danny Mac laid a foundation but what Coach Campbell is done here really is amazing.

Also in this day and age of the portal we have lost a ton of starters / top performers. 5 Star Culture ain't a catchphrase, it's a fact of life.

The buyout is $2 million (and it doesn't sound like it goes lower as you get further into the contract).

That's a clear escape clause, isn't it?

Myself, I don't care. He'll stay as long as he and his wife decide. I'm good with that.

Actually it seems pretty solid to me. I think his first contract the buyout decreased to $0 throughout the term of the contract.
