Why did the Big 12 let Microsoft butcher their marketing with AI slop?

On Monday the Big 12 released embarassing "marketing" images of every school's stadium. They were created by Big 12 sponsor Microsoft's copilot AI. Each picture had eregious errors. Ex:

There's more on twitter but I refuse to link there. Terrible look for the Big 12. If you're gonna take money from Microsoft, at least care a little bit? Modicum? Smidgen? It's bad enough that AI is ruining our environment and the lives of people, but for this crap?

I’m assuming graphic designer and artist types are saying they could do a better job, which is true. But it’s also true they aren’t giving money to the Big 12 to market their product. The purpose of this isn’t to give fans or the schools the best art possible, it is to make money for conference members that desperately need it to compete.

Disinformation will run rampant, you think today's political climate is bad wait til no one trusts anything, even more!

But the big 12 posting some ****** AI slop isn't going to change anything. It wasn't the best look but anything for a dollar I guess. Which we need. They need to use the ai to build an army of ai twitter bots to push the pro Big 12 agenda. If we're going to sell our soul let's do it all the way!

We've had that for decades but it took a lot of graphic art expertise (something I've done in my career but luckily moved away from where it's kind of an additional skill and not core to my career).

Now anybody with a great vocabulary and some persistence can do it. It's making leaps every few months.

Agree that a ton of bots spinning pro Big 12 nonsense would actually probably help, sad reality but true.

That graphic is rad. There are a couple that are less than rad, but for the most part all are ok to cool.

Is it the upside down lettering in the endzone drawing ire? Because the additions in the stands are again, rad.

I was playing with AI for an Independence Day image and it does some really weird stuff. Random symbols, foreign languages (I'm assuming, could be just random jumbles of letters).
