Nebraska gives Scott Frost much deserved extension to only fire him.

Is Frost dumb to say that about Nebraska?

Or was he just a really bad coach?

Or is the Nebraska job really that bad nowadays?

Probably a mixture of the three but I wonder how they'd rank out.
He's got some balls to explicitly call out his alma mater like that, but man if he is successful at UCF again it's hard to imagine Nebby having any sort of legitimacy over the next decade.

If Rhule can’t get it don’t, they’re going to have to hope for some surprise diamond in the rough person to pull them out. I don’t know much about their program, but I’d have to think there is a lot of politics happening behind the scenes with donors and stuff that makes it hard for coaching staffs.

It appears to be such a mess that I don’t know how it ever gets “fixed”. Those cooks aren’t leaving that kitchen.

He did a terrible job there. It shouldn't be that bad a job. They still recruit well and have basically whatever resources they want. For being a former blue blood, they gave him a really long leash too. His best season was 5-7 and he got another 3 years after that. I don't know what he could possibly be complaining about.

I don't think his second stint at UCF will go as smoothly as his first. The competition level is significantly higher and defenses have learned how to play against his offenses now. They're no longer unique.

I'm gonna run thru their sched here with my opinion:

@ Cincy W
Akron W
HCU W
Michigan L
MI State split
@ Maryland split
@ Minny split
NW W
USC split
@ UCLA split
@ PS L
Iowa split

I have them at 7-5 and I think that's a fair prediction. If that happens, they'll be grumbling.

There are a lot of mentions to alcohol with Scott Frost. Is it a well-known secret that he has a drinking problem?

One of the posters on here that is also a UNI supporter mentioned that Frost was asked not to come back to Farley's staff.

Beer cart girls
Bar incidents
Maybe a secret kid
Wife took kids back to Orlando

Those have all been said to me by friends in Omaha.

I am hoping the current Nebraska is a preview of future Iowa . . . . .

That fanbase thinks playoff (with wins) or bust every year. Grumbling will definitely happen.

18 teams in the league. A realistic person would say they're not in the top half.

Way up there
All of the sudden I'm a Scott Frost fan. He's got his own issues but he's not wrong about Nebraska. For him the expectations were the and as they were for Frank solich, anyone with ties to the Osborne/ Devaney years was going to have expectations that were completely unrealistic. It's a totally different job for him than Matt Rhule. Husker fans seemed to have humbled a bit but it's mostly a facade, for some reason they think they have traction now with Rhule and are showing their true colors.

Their history was built on partial qualifiers, walk ons, and roids.

Tough to do that today.

Not exactly sure.

Osborne has been quieter. May be helping Rhule. I think his meddling has hurt Nebraska.

That media ecosystem in Nebraska is terrible. The fans are generally great (truly) but there are a few too many reporters and fanboys on the radio who are in their 40s or older and think they're just one step from turning it right back around to what it once was.

Going to the big ten was not a good move for them (outside of current money). I think it would have been easier to rebuild in the b12 due to history and location. If they stayed, I think the b12 wouldn’t have blown up as much.
