I was wondering about that. I did see some recommendations elsewhere for a through the wall skimmer. I'm not sure if it will help the problem having the same pump though.

We bought a skimmer that goes over the rail. And then plugged one of the two inlets. But the crap pump you get from Intex and the paper filters just don't do much. You need a stronger pump and a sand filter. Once you have those, keeping the pool clean becomes easy.

The one we have is a sand filter not a cartridge filter but it's the smallest sand/pump combo they make.

My wife's sister had to replace their 24' Intex this year, so I think they have an extra pump. A quick google tells me it's a 2800 Gph pump vs mine at 1200 Gph. I'll have to see if I can buy it off them.
