With the "main sports seasons" out of the way, I've found myself some more free time and have started up a new book series: The Lightbringer Series by Brent Weeks. I'm only halfway through the first book, but it's got me locked in... excited to se where it goes.

Exciting part about this series, is that I know it is complete. I've given up hope on Rothfuss and RR Martin.

After this is done I'll likely throw in a classic or two to change it up. What's everyone else been reading?

I've read Weeks Night Angel series. Thought the first book was great, but it lost me in the second. Is Lightbringer good?

The Wheel of Time. I'm somewhere in the book 5-9 range (It's a set on kindle and hard to tell which book). I'm also listening to The Armor of Light by Ken Follet while driving/mowing.

I haven't taken the plunge into Wheel of Time yet... that's quite a commitment. Would you say it is worth it?

Rereading the Age of Madness series by Joe Abercrombie.

Also, my book club picked Slaughterhouse 5 for this month, so I'm going through that, too.
Vonnegut is a weird, weird man, lol. I've read several of his books, but always space them out because I have to be in the right mind frame to take them in.

Just finished The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah and it was fantastic, very emotional. Need to finish The Demon of Unrest by Erik Larson still but I just started Stephen King's The Long Walk yesterday.

A few others I've read recently, The Wager by the guy that did Killers of the Flower Moon was really good, true story about a shipwreck.

Nuclear War: A Scenario was really interesting.

The God of the Woods was a cool mystery/thriller

Yeah, I haven't read Slaughterhouse 5 since college. I'd forgotten how distinct his voice is.

Saturday was Free Comic Book Day, so I have a bunch of free comics to get through. I've got some other comics/graphic novels waiting for me too. I am also trying to read Carson the Magnificent. That book is pretty good, but the issues I've had lately is I get about four pages in each night and I fall asleep. The last three books are the same way. I find this very troubling.

So it goes....

Currently reading a book called Aftermath. Hits the era between the end of WWII and 1955 in Germany

Last year a book that I enjoyed was Beyond the Wall - A History of East Germany

Germany has an "interesting" time in the 1900s

I recently read A Monster in Mt. Pleasant which is an investigation of several murders that took place in Mt. Pleasant, IA in the late 70s. It was written by a classmate of one of the victims who has since gone on to be a federal judge. The whole book reads as it was written by a judge, very thorough and clinical. He went and interviewed many people related to the crimes and even the murderer himself. Being from SE Iowa, I found it very interesting.
