I will give them credit, their prices have been lower with the new CEO

HyVee has had to lose a sizable market share to places like Aldi and Walmart over the past 5 years. It seems refocusing on being what they were in 1990's and 2000's would be a good thing.

I get promotional emails from Hyvee. Today I received one informing me that they would have 10% off seafood every Saturday during lent. Why would they have the sale on Saturday when observers eat seafood on Friday?
Getting rid of unsold inventory. Actually good practice. There used to be a Hy Vee about 5 minutes away from me . I figured out during grilling season ribeye and sirloin steaks typically went on sale on Mondays or Tuesdays. I don't need to wait for the weekend to slap a steak on the grill.

The bar at the Grimes location always seems to have someone at it and especially the after work and early evening hours its fairly busy. Guessing there must be some kind of cost savings calculations behind it. What sucks is a lot of the DM area kitchens have already significantly reduced their hot food options and amount of counter space compared to what they were when they were when originally built. Not many have salad bars anymore either which I used o used to like as an option as they would also have some soups and maybe a hot item or taco meat to make some loaded nachos.

Aldi and the Asian grocery store are the only places I shop anymore… they actually give you good value for what you get, especially if most of what you get is produce, meat, cheese, and canned goods like me

More of a me problem, but I am guaranteed to drill my shin on their small carts every time I use one.

Hy-Vee used to care about the interior of their store.. That flipped sometime the past decade and it's all about the outside walls.. Almost like groceries are an inconvenience for the store

They’ve definitely slid. These companies often lose track of the core business and focus on frivolous ****… why did hyvee ever have a streaming service??? Wtf!??

Is there a HyVee in the metro that still has a salad bar?

Thought I saw one at the Mills Civic or the one on Grand in WDM recently but haven't been to either in awhile to confirm. I know that Urbandale and West Lakes took theirs out during remodels sometime after 2020. The one at West Lakes was really good, used to work not too far from there and would take my lunch there once in awhile.

Gotta confess, I’m going to miss our market grill bar. Had cheap IPAs for happy hour.
And of poor quality. Every time I tried it was disappointing. Id bet the beer/keg lines at hy-vee locations have never been cleaned or changed out.

This didn't take long. Hy-Vee Downtown (4th and Court) has done away with bottle recycling. Hmmm, since they will still charge for the bottle deposit, no more beer from there. Supply and demand. :)

Closed because of Covid, never came back.

They old HyVee salad bars were great. We would do that a lot prior to Covid.
