Very much the same here. I have very explicit instructions for my obit and service that are specifically silly. Life size cutout at the front, only gross Jello salads from old church ladies at the social time. The very last song on my funeral playlist is “Pony” by Ginuwine.

I recorded a video that my attorney has that is about a 20 minutes long that is required to play at my funeral. Did it a year ago. I am not dying or anyhting. Just decided it would be fun to do my own speech at my funeral. You might want to look into it. I am hacking on people in my family (In good fun) telling a couple of my favorite stories and so on.

My friend Paul was in the band Slipknot. It was a private funeral. Lot's of Rockstars like the band Korn, Kerry King from Slayer and so on were at the funeral. Fade to Black was the only sad song. It was pretty epic as they were playing Hatebreed, Slayer, Cannibal corps. Kind of strange but at the same time, exactly what Paul would want played. It was still very sad because he died so young. Same with Joey from Slipknot except a ton more rockstars. My ex wife and I pulled up to Pauls funeral and Head from Korn opened one door for us and Kerry King opened another. They were not opening doors, just happened to be standing there. It was quite the scene.

I don't think he will be available.
Last I heard he was alive and living near some guitar shop in Kalamazoo. If he passes away before me I'd accept an Elvis impersonator. I'm partial towards El-Ves, the Mexican Elvis. I'd highly recommend his show if you get a chance.

That is a really great idea. I remember Liam Neeson’s wife in “Love Actually” making her own slideshow, I like the idea of a message!

My wife used Here Comes the Sun.

For my biological father, I did “Golden Slumbers.”

He’d had some… legal issues after we left, to put it mildly. B&E, that kind of stuff. He loved The Who, so I had thought about the chorus of “The Seeker” and put it in. My half sister and I had a really good break for some levity when we got to the part about ransacking people’s houses - it was very unexpectedly accurate for a very complicated man.

I would like the congegation to sing Amazing Grace at my funeral. I know Mrs. Velo wants On Eagle's Wings at hers.

Trivia for you: Amazing Grace was written by a former slave trader and slaver captain who found God after surviving a severe storm at sea. He became a minister and wrote Amazing Grace in 1772.

A lot. Some just to **** with my surviving family members.

I don't want a tombstone or a grave. But if they get one it's to say

"Pour me a drink and I'll tell you some lies."

I feel this so much, what's funny is I picked out this song when I was like 8 years old lying in bed trying to fall asleep. I tend to be in my own head a lot, haha.

Not to be too grim or anything, but I am the type of person who plans major life events years or even decades in advance. I'm weird like that.

Most funerals have two or three songs played during the ceremony, and these are mine:

Tuomas Holopainen(Nighwish's keyboardist) wrote this song for his grandfather shortly after he passed away.

I want this played because I just love it, and to kind of mess with people. They would be like WTF?! My idea is don't be sad I'm gone. Live it the f*** up and f***ing party celebrating my life.

Though I do prefer the Eurobeat version myself (sadly, no screaming lyrics):

As for the third song, I haven't decided yet, but I definitely want Schala/Kid's final dairy entry at the end of this video (3:03 mark) quoted at my funeral. I don't remember it from when I played Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross back to back back in August 2002 (I just remember Kid looking over the beach after the final credits rolled), but my God does it make me bawl like a baby every time I read it back with the third verse of Radical Dreamers playing.

Like I said, this may be a bit of a grim post, but it popped in my head tonight while listening to music, and was just curious if there are any other weirdos like me "making plans" like this.

Not be too grim? Talking about funerals... nothing grim about that, lol.
