ISU daughter going on spring break to Florida. One of her friends had planned to drive her car, but that fell through, so now daughter is taking her car. It's a 2018 Hyundai Elantra. As the overbearing dad I want to get oil change/service before she goes, but Stew Hansen is booked out to April. Doesn't look like there's a Hyundai dealership in Ames, any other places you'd suggest? Not a fan of Jiffy Lube, they screwed up big time on me once, never been back. TIA.

United Fleet is where I usually go. Hell of a lot cheaper than LOF and I usually get in pretty quick.

My daughter went to the Florida Panhandle with a group of a dozen+ in two cars. She called me in Alabama and said they were broke down & wanted to use her/my credit card at the mechanic shop they found. Finally traded the disabled car to the shop owner for another POS & went on. I told her to take a picture of the exit sign on the interstate for future laughs. She told me to get serious. My advice: the oil change is the least of your worries. Check the tires, the odometer & make sure she has a good credit card.

Good stuff. It had 18,000 on it when we bought it last summer, has around 23,000 now. Not real worried about tires. But yes, she has a CC and I'm expecting an expensive call at some point.

Going by thread title, was hoping there was a big oil strike in Story County and we had our own T. Boone Pickens situation.

En-Tire Car Care but they don’t take reservations but are usually busy. Trickle Tire and Automotive takes reservations but can be expensive. But I’ve had good luck at both places.

Is renting a car a viable option? Just thinking any repair or roadside issues would be on the rental company to figure out. Could rent one here, drop off there, Uber while there, then rent one for the trip home?

George White Chevrolet. No appointment needed. I have my daughter take her Jeep there. I have also had my oil changed a couple of times when I have been in Ames. Treated very well and the work was done very quickly.

Yeah her car will be under bumper-to-bumper warranty for years. If something serious happens, it'll be covered and any rental would be mostly covered at the least. I do think Ubering from place to place once there is the way to go and is their plan.

The Honda dealer does a good job, but is not as cheap as some of the other options.

I was thinking more for the PITA/your stress level vs the money side.

Trickle Tire and Automotive. Great family business and huge Cyclone supporters.

Dang your daughter drives a better car than I do. Congrats to her.

Bail money? (JK Gonzo) but that was too easy.
