Again at 184 & 197, have to sort out Broderson, Shapiro and Coleman

I am not guessing on who might step up or who might transfer in or committ

Why wouldn't Colbray stay at 174 assuming he continues to improve this year?
Can't say he will or won't. The fact he made it down to 174 kind of amazes me. Hopefully he can maintain the weight and wrestle there next year too. Time will tell

21/22 looks absolutely dreadful. It is why people are panicking about this year’s recruiting class.

I agree. They haven’t hit on big recruits but they can develop kids who want it. I hope there’s a couple in that mix who will be kind of surprises like Small, etc. I have to believe there’s atleast one or two that can hold there own in there somewhere but there still likely will be some glaring holes.

We really need to land an impact transfer at 57/65
Anyone have any update on Alex Lloyd? I know it was mentioned he was working out in Ames after leaving SDSU. I think he is at a JUCO in Minnesota last I heard. He is pretty short though probably a 149.

I have followed him a little bit. Ranked #5 at 157 for Rochester CC in Juco division.
Took some losses earlier in the season

Id personally would like to see Coleman put on a lot of muscle and be a 197. I feel like it could really help our team next year and help him in the long run. This would be the lineup I like to see next year. I think Parker can go with the best at 149. My only worry with this lineup is Degen at 157 though. I don't know how'd he fair against the like of Kaleb Young, Hidlay, etc.

125 - Mackall
133 - Small
141 - Gomez
149 - Parker
157 - Degen
165 - Carr
174 - Colbray
184 - Broderson
197 - Coleman/Shapiro
285 - Gremmel

Schumacher has moved up to 174. He will never see 157 and may never see 165 again. Redding will be in the mix at 133/141. Klepps will never see 125 again as he wrestled 141 at the last tourney. Cabanban may outgrow 125, too. If Gomez stays and wrestles again (I don't have reason why he wouldn't) then he will probably move up to 141 in 2021 to help prepare for freestyle 65KG. Woodley will provide depth at 141. Cam Robinson is a wildcard as he is tall and his Dad is big so not sure where he will be in 2021. Broderson is a pure 184 pounder and that is where he plans to stay. Everyone is way over reacting to Shapiro's early struggles. He has started to improve the past month and I expect him to be a Top 12-15 type of kid next year. Fisher could also be a factor in 2021 at either 197 or 285. I'm hearing he may try to get big enough for heavy.

Best line-up with current roster for 2021 would be:
125 Reeves/Cabanban
133 Ramazan/Redding
141 Gomez
149 Leisure
157 Carr/Robinson/Stotts
165 Carr/Robinson/Judge/Mulder
174 Coleman/Shumacher
184 Broderson/Coleman
197 Shapiro/Fisher
285 Duggan/Fisher

I would hope there will be other options at 125, 149, 174 and 285. Not saying the guys listed won't be quality options by then but it would be risky not have other options.

Rolling that lineup out in Dresser’s 5th year would be highly disappointing. There would be one legit AA candidate and 1-2 more with an outside shot.

Way to early to tell.

Reeves, Gomez, Carr, Coleman, Broderson all could. Even Cam Robinson has potential too.

Recruiting needs to pickup, I agree.

I have been told by the staff to not worry about Shapiro or Reeves yet. They still expect a lot out of them

Yeah the recruiting issues seem to be snowballing into a mass hysteria kind of thing. If we want to win a national championship, we need to bring in more elite recruits but some of our fans need to keep in mind that guys can and will develop beyond their HS ranking. Rebuilding the program the right way is a marathon and might not even be a consistent upward trajectory. I know I'm not going to convince anybody who has already decided we're up **** creek without a paddle but I don't think it's nearly as bad as some on here think it is.

We all want to get back on top but have to remember we're only a few years removed from winning one dual in a season where none of our guys consistently wrestled hard and our coach had his hands in his face half the time. Our guys wrestled their asses off for a full 7 at OU which is something I can get behind no matter how talented or highly ranked they are. Prime example of guys developing would be Shapiro who could easily have zero confidence at this point in the season but gave Woodley all he could handle. Very encouraging seeing him go out and be that aggressive against a top 20 guy who was an NCAA qualifier as a RSFR. If the entire lineup wrestles like that the rest of the way, we should be pretty happy come March.
