ESPN published a fun article today where they named a current player from each ranked team that could go on to be a future head coach. Who would be your pick?

My pick would be Chase Allen.

First-Team Academic All-Big 12 in 2017 and 2018, major in mechanical engineering. Coaching is in his blood with his dad Terry and Terry's dad Robert.

From Cyclones.com: "father, Terry, was the head football coach at Northern Iowa (1989-96), Kansas (1997-2001) and Missouri State (2006-14) … Terry was an assistant coach at Iowa State from 2002-05 and the starting QB at Northern Iowa from 1976-78 … grandfather, Robert Allen, was the head men’s swimming and diving coach at Iowa from 1959-75"

/end thread. I believe the staff has been grooming him ever since he arrived in Ames. Totally expect him to start as a grad assistant here, then he'll probably bounce around the Mac schools in the Ohio area for awhile.

I don’t know that they’ve been grooming him since he got here. But once he took over, they’ve loved him.

If you're going on just family ties to coaching then Jamahl Johnson is a good candidate. His father coaches in the NFL and his grandfather is a college Hall of Fame coach.

Do you think he'd make his way back to Iowa State?

I don't think Kempt's Ohio roots are very deep. His parents live near Springfield, MO now.

My only takeaway is, how are we not ranked in that poll, but Nebraska is? Eat **** ESPN!
