I would love to play a P5 team that is not Iowa in the noncon. I’d be fine with dropping the cyhawk series but I know I’m in the minority. Might be time to trade out the FCS game.

Agree on dropping FCS. Would love to do H&H with Minnesota, Wisconsin, Nebraska, or Mizzou.

Yeah I get the importance of the CyHawk but some other games would be fun if we only did one P5 game.
I’ve been to all of those stadiums and I would love to tailgate with Clones in Madison.

I'd like the cyhawk game played every other year or two.

WV appears to be scheduling two P5 noncons on the same years leading up to this. Definitely beefing up their schedule.

Does anyone else feel that a big part of why Alabama agreed to this is because the foreseeable future for WVU football looks bleak? I mean their coach left the cupboard bare and bolted for a g5 school, but it’s hard to say where any team will be in 7 years. If Alabama and the SEC really wanted to impress with their sos, they’d start by playing a 9 game conference schedule and dropping the fcs November furlough. Although with large conferences that also means you can still dodge the leagues top teams. Cough....Big 10...cough

I’d add Illinois, Ohio State, Arkansas and Colorado to that list as additional possibilities. Maybe one of the Arizona schools. Alternate the new P5 opponent with Iowa H&H every other year.

I’d have to think Alabama agreed because of Saban’s WV roots.

Good point. I hadn’t thought of that, but it probably also helps a little that WVU is trending down at this point too. If they had won the Big 12 this year with a top 40 recruiting ranking, do you think Alabama would schedule this?

For quite a while Alabama had liked to play neutral so it's interesting that they now appear to have some home and home games going.
Texas-Bama could be interesting in a few years.

Alabama's non con is a joke this year. Duke neutral and 3 patsies.

I like it. It should be a fun series. West Virginia put up a fight in 2014 Chick-fil-A Kickoff Classic in 2014 before losing by 10. As for why the series was arranged...From the article: *Lyons (WVU AD) served as Alabama’s deputy director of athletics from 2011-15 before replacing Oliver Luck at WVU.*

Alabama agreed to play in the Chick-fil-A Classic first, and Duke was the only ACC team the CFA Association could get to agree to the match-up. FWIW, the Tide have played Virginia Tech X2, Clemson, Florida State and West Virginia in their other Chick-fil-A appearances and will play Miami (Fla) in 2 years. They have also played Southern California, Michigan and Wisconsin in the Cowboys Classic (or whatever it is called) @ Arlington. They have WON THEM ALL by double digits. Doesn't really matter though, as there are only a handful of P5 teams at Alabama's level to play OOC (Ohio State, Clemson and Oklahoma come to mind), and they end up playing them in the Playoffs. As a fan, I am looking forward to the home and homes with Texas, West Virginia and Notre Dame.
