To my untrained eye, Zach looks like a kid that needs to get stronger. To me, that's the thing that stuck out the most. Otherwise, he plays tough and with intensity. He's pretty quick, too.

Give our staff the opportunity to make him stronger...amazing what some concentrated time in the strength room will do. Given his frame size, there is plenty of room to put some additional muscle. That is the key...frame size. Great get...

Good for you but he still doesn't have an offer from Iowa, so stop pretending like he does. Maybe they will give him one down the road- if that happens it will be interesting to see if he sticks with his commitment.

What's that old saying? Oh yeah, you snooze you lose.

I don't think it's a matter of Iowa snoozing, they definitely have Ross on their radar. Iowa is just used to being able to throw out a late offer to the under the radar type in state kids and get a commitment. That is obviously changing since we have a staff that is willing to go toe to toe with Iowa for in state kids instead of rolling over and going after the Texas table scraps.

Nor is Iowa, right....

Yes, Iowa and OSU are his top two right now.

That would probably all change if ND offers.

Both of Waggoner's parents are Iowa alums and his dad graduated from medical school at Iowa.

I'm not worried about Ross's strength at this point, our staff has all of the needed tools to make that happen. This did get me thinking though and it's amazing how differently Iowa State is recruiting the o-line comparded to the prior staff. Below are the average weights of o-line recruits for CMC's first 2 classes and the 2018 class to date, as well as CPR's last 7 classes. We all knew that the prior staff put a huge emphasis on frame type/potential but it's pretty obvious that the current staff is recruiting both size and potential. I was never a fan of CPR's approach to the o-line and I would like to think that going after bigger guys who's bodies are used to carrying the weight will have a much higher success rate as far as development goes vs. smaller guys that are packing on both good and bad weight to get to a serviceable playing size.

CMC
2018 290
2017 293
2016 295

CPR
2015 290
2014 312
2013 260
2012 280
2011 268
2010 274

I didn't say he had an offer from Iowa. I said he was expecting an offer from Iowa. That is a whole different thing. So maybe you know the situation better but you are also great at twisting my words.

Also to put it into better perspective the 2015 and 2014 classes had a few JUCO kids as well which will be bigger kids than HS kids...
