Keep the current one and add a small '67 Cy right above the facemask. Then get busy winning games and never change the helmet again.
Okay, who has actual game images of the 1986? I do not remember a no logo year and the media guide from 1987 shows a logo on the helmet which would be from the previous season. Did this happen for 1 game? Or, did the makers of this list use the schedule card as a model from 1986, but that card clearly is from the spring game.
I admit I don't remember the no-logo helmet, and I had student tickets during that period. It had to be a one-game-only. I did miss a game or two that season and might have not realized they used it.
I have never remembered seeing the 1986 helmet except in the 1986 spring game. I am going to need photo evidence to convince me it ever happened.
My favorite helmet is the Earle Bruce era from '76-'78.
Those were great times to be a cyclone when we were winning 24 games over that 3 year period along with two bowl berths.
Iowa State has never done better than that or ever will equal what Earle Bruce accomplished over that three year span.

I don't know if its been mentioned, but didn't Criner have a goofy policy where players had white or gold or red helmets depending on who had a good game the week before?
