Yes, it’s late in the cycle. Not to get a commit, but to START recruiting someone. It is what it is.

They've been recruiting some of those 150 guys for some time, haven't they? If so, that might say something powerful about Zelee. More than one or two ways to look at a development.

Just my opinion, but I find Mbb film to be incredibly hard to evaluate. FB is much easier. If you’re a decent player at all, you’re gonna have an impressive highlight reel. That said, I’ve not seen this kids tape so I have no idea what it looks like.

So, we can take comfort that the staff has done their due diligence, including watching Zelee in person? Who here can imagine this staff making this offer without a thorough non-film review and judgment?

Hate to speculate - but (let me speculate).

Yeah dude..that’s the point of prefacing a statement with that, it’s a pretty common figure of speech, you new to English?

Also, given we did something similar in last years recruiting class, I thought that was fair speculation (what people do on message boards). But just let me know, speculation police!

I have zero doubt they know what they’re doing. With so few scholarships to give out, they are going to vet every offer to the extreme.

That’s not what I’m saying at all. Usually TJ has his targets lined up well in advance. This kid gets an offer fairly late in the process compared to most recruits we’ve seen. That leads me to believe either some of the current players on the roster aren’t as good as they hoped, the other commits aren’t as good as they hoped, or someone like Mason Williams isn’t going to recover 100%. Or maybe this kid just blew up and we couldn’t pass on him.

This just seems a little out of the ordinary from our usual recruiting.
We usually don't pass on a kid at Iowa State who has a great attitude, plays tough defense, is lightning quick, has a good shot and quick release. Sounds like a great fit to me.

Anyone who can watch this kid's highlights and wonder why we offered him has no business getting anywhere near a basketball recruiting thread, much less posting opinions in one.
He looks like a great fit but basing on highlights against who the hell knows is suspect.
I 100% trust this offer but I don’t trust highlights.

I actually agree, but that doesn't mean you can't tell anything from watching a highlight reel. Does he look like he can handle the ball? Does he move well? Is he an enthusiastic defender? Can he get wherever he wants with the basketball? Is he beating everyone downcourt? Can he get his shot up in traffic?

Isn't that pretty much contradictory, you trust the coaches' offer but not the highlights? Didn't the staff take it all into consideration, including the highlights? Trust the staff, or don't.
