On contested threes, sure. However, they've missed a ton of open ones today as well.
Yeah that’s a 40 point difference between yesterday and today. Not all caused by Houston

I’ll concede. Haha

I really don’t like 30 and 5 for BYU. Not impressed with the BYU fans around us in KC. Glad Houston won. Respect how they play
Agree... I noticed the BYU fans only seem to talk to each other.... not much interaction with other fans.

They have to shoot the free throws regardless of however many PPG they average.

And then your front court has foul issues so he can be a force.

It's all moot since the game's over but I'm just not seeing it with him.

Not to mention with how things go with ISU's luck this year, he'd hit like 14/15 to seal it.

It's the little things that happen over a season and a lane violation when you have a chance to do something big is why you're 22-12.

The first game had a perfect example of this. Just need to steal a couple possessions.

You don't foul them incessantly/deliberately with your starting frontcourt in this strategy.

You don’t do it every play. Which is why I said burn Watson fouls. You’ve never seen that strategy in key points?

Yes, I have.

I'm not seeing it as being all that effective with a team like BYU, or using Watson for it yesterday specifically when he was needed at the 4 at times.

This is what I was saying BYU could get bounced in the second round if they shoot 6/29
Teams that depend on the three-ball so much rarely make deep runs. It works sometimes in the regular season when you aren't playing a hot team every game, e.g. their recent Big 12 run.

It is kind of similar to the no-middle defense: we are taking away everything except for the longest and hardest shot in basketball, if you hit 18 of them you can probably beat us. Nobody tries it in the NBA since everyone can shoot there, but in college it can be really effective.

Duke refs were going to call something on that free throw no matter what. They were probably looking at the lane like this ready to blow the whistle:
