Has the rot started to creep in?

Yup...totally valid to compare a season where teams had to cancel games because of COVID roster depletion to ISU's injury situation this year.

2 games were cancelled in the Big 12 both were the last week of the regular season. It’s not like it was happening every week.

Iowa State basically doesn’t have a linebacking corps. Why should any games count since those players haven’t been able to play? It either all counts or none of it does.

I made a rot joke in the GameDay thread but as a casual it seems injuries have killed the team this year. Still a lot about CMCs game planning that nobody loves but maybe he's still covering for things I can't see? I hope they can salvage some things this year because the start was amazing, obv.

People talk like it’s a lost season. 1 slip up from Colorado these next couple weeks and ISU wins out, the cyclones make the Big 12 championship

We will never be a program that can have this many injuries and not experience issues from it.

And very few are, and even fewer now it seems since GA, Bama, etc. don't seem to have the same sort of depth as prior years.

If we can’t take the next step this year with the easiest schedule we have had since the modern Big 8 formed, it won’t happen with $30m. Money is not the problem.
So fans are entitled to the expectation that ISU will dominate in the new Big XII? Based on what? Our great natural recruiting advantages? Our superior NIL opportunities? An athletic budget that dwarfs that of our conference opponents? Because we're morally superior and deserve it? We have the opportunity to be competitive in the New Big XII. Being competitive =/= winning every game. Other teams have good coaches and good players also. Our defense has had a lot of injuries and Kansas played probably their best game of the year. We're 7-2 and have a very winnable game this week.

It doesn’t matter. He played a pivotal role in getting us to our present, unacceptable level, of mediocrity?

We need more Chiziks if we ever expect to be more than we currently are?
I find your humor unacceptable.

Totally just kidding. It may deflect off some people though. :)

This year will end with us playing 1 ranked team at the end of the year and that is not even guaranteed (Kansas State). If we can’t get it done with this patheticly easy schedule it just won’t happen - especially with a team returning everyone from last yrs 7-6 team that played a tougher schedule.

Rankings are trash. They are set up to prop up the Big 10 and SEC. They cannot be taken seriously anymore

We get it bro, you hate Campbell and didn't think Mac should have been fired. We get it.
Don't hate Campbell, just sad he can't change.

Mac got fired because of 2005. That team underwhelmed just like 2021. I supported it.

Campbell's fluffers get old because they take any criticism of him as heresy.

He's an astonishingly bad gameday coach, especially when it comes to adjustments and time management.

He's got the easiest schedule ever, with the best facilities and most financial support as well.

Most troubling is ISU fans deserve better out of him. ISU showed out well in KC considering the prices, and he didn't change nothing. Just took the loss like a chump.

Most wins in Iowa state history, highest win percentage in over a century, just imagine if he was a good coach!

We lost to Texas Tech and Kansas. Almost lost to a mediocre UCF and Iowa, and don't play Texas, aTm, Nebraska, and Oklahoma anymore in conference. 7-2 ain't what it used to be......
Meh. We could have been 7-2 back in the day too. 4 non-conf wins, and wins against say OSU, Baylor, and KU…. Of course that didn’t happen then either.
