Yeah those "gold" (yellow) pants with the stripes were great, as were the Cardinal pants with the stripes. Goddamn, miss those stripes!

The Chizik 2007 'bright yellow shimmer-sheen high school-quality' pants (with the ill-sized bird-in-a-blender logo hastily sewed on last minute) were absolutely awful. Such an embarrassing look.

May be construed as sour grapes, but the KU black unis worn Saturday are horrid. They can do much better. I’m not anti black unis; ours look great.

Pretty much all BFBS uniforms are bad. Some are worse than others.

Kansas' version is hideous while ours are more in the category of annoying.

What is BFBS?
Black for Black’s Sake. Used when a team has a black uniform and it’s not part of their team colors.

Some would say ours fall in that category. I’d argue that it’s become a tradition at this point, particularly with our storm/weather imagery.

Even if a "tradition" it's still BFBS. We're cardinal and gold. That hasn't changed.

Other teams try and lean into some "synergy" with their existing identity while going BFBS, too.

The Mets used to say their black elements were for the "shadows in the urban canyons of New York."

Great marketing copy but it's reverse-engineering a justification rather than the real reason you do it.

The gold pants from 2008-16 had the Cardinal side side stripes which are far different than the all gold from the current set.
Yes, and I agree. Past stripes don't really matter in my point, or post, though. I'd like to see the gold pant that we ordered. I'd like to see it with a cardinal jersey and helmet. Just to remind me that we need to go to a darker shade of gold, get back to some of our history.

The current gold will be fine in an Away uni, c/w/g, or w/w/g. But I think that most fans want a gold pant option at home, though not necessarily with our current gold. If we keep our current gold, I'm not sure I want to see that at Home. Most fans would likely complain about it also. It's too bright. There you have it.

So, what do we want to do with our current gold? 1. Just keep it and nothing else, 2. Go to a darker gold (and I'm not saying that much darker), 3. Add a modestly darker gold, while keeping our current gold as well.

I'm pushing for option 3. It's the most logical, IMO. I might be wrong, but I don't think so.

If we were talking about stripes, I would be in favor of a gold pant having stripes, definitely. And the white pants also. The cardinal and black pants, I could go either way. If we had 4 colors of pants, all 4 don't have to have stripes. Again, JMO.

Thanks for the reply.

I guess I wasn't thinking that our fans wanted a "yellow" home pant option. Personally, I don't think it fits at all with our current design.

I agree for the most part, with the switch to white numerals, it definitely wouldn't mesh as well as when numbers were gold.

It might be OK using W-C-G. Not sure whether that'd look good, would have to see it. Maybe that's too much "happening" and is no better than C-C-G

Yes, I agree. I still want to see it. I'd be surprised if Campbell does it though (at Home).

Give him a darker shade of gold, in the next uniform set, and who knows? I think he'd go for it. At the least, occasionally.

Most fans don't want a current gold (yellow) pant option at home, with the current uni set, yes. That's also what I'm saying. It's too bright.

Give them a slightly (even) darker shade of gold, and I think that would change. Something that wouldn't remind us of the 'ketchup & mustard' look that we've had in the recent past. Put some stripes on a 'new darker gold' pant, and it would be a great option!

Have posted this a few times previously, but these are the all-time best gold pants that can be used within the parameters of existing ISU AD gold shades.

I'm surprised by this take - I think KU's BFBS is one of the best - our current versions are just terrible - the previous iteration was probably one of the better BFBS in the nation, but the new ones are just black & white & for some reason we put Adidas stripes on the shoulder caps... They were "stormy", now they're just high school

Wow, completely disagree. The 'gray' swirls/accents in the previous iteration were really cheesy.

The stripes obviously are not Adidas stripes, they are simply the same shoulder design as the entire uniform stack (Home, Away, Alternates, etc.)

The all black/white is fantastic, the best iteration of the black uniforms in the country. And makes them unique (as everyone else tries to incorporate school colors in their black alternate). Kansas inserting shiny stickers and blue numbers looked cheesy AF.

I think we hit a homerun with both the black alternate and the icy white alternate.

I concur, our previous black unis were better. The shoulder "stripe" was black but could still be seen because the stripe material was different than the uniform material so the whole uni was black but still some unique detail. The new ones just look like a generic black and white template.
