25- forfeit
33- really the weight we have no depth behind frost why no terukina or swap meza and grice? Either way totally outclassed.
41- Stanford kid looked good, close match and if he just gives up the td the dual could've been different
49-ech looked really good
57-that guy is really explosive and unorthodox, but giving up a jr high headlock at the end was really really bad.
65-needs some more offense, but hips, pressure, and gas tank looked good.
74-expected better at this weight giving up a major also not good. Stanford was tall, but need to learn how to finish shots
84-looked good after 1st 15 seconds
97- looked good but gassed, needs to get his weight under control
Hwt-looked good, yonger would've murdered that guy

125 - please someone tell me that doesn’t count as a competition for Mesa’s redshirt.

133 - the bigger, stronger guy won.

141 - just inexcusable for a 5th year guy to give up a pin late. Was the difference. Valencia is just a different tier guy. Similar to Redding wrestling Larkin last year.

149 - Abas is lanky and you could tell he wanted to keep space but in the end Ech was too much for him.

157 - keep hearing K Naak has a bright future, trusting that, but Cholakyan just too strong and funky for him at the moment.

165 - liked the pressure and gas tank, but do wonder where his offense will come from.

174 - think that match ends up differently if he wins an early scramble, looked like that took a lot out of him. Expectations for 174 not tremendously high.

184 - this could turn out to be a good weight for Bockman. He’s tough, once he started attacking and wore his guy down he poured it on. Crowd helped.

197 - could clearly see the potential for the first period and a half, gotta build that gas tank. Assuming it’s heavily (no pun intended) weight related.

285 - such a bright future for Herrera. Great gas tank and he looks like a big heavy. Wonder what he weighs in at.

I can say my 2 matches I was upset. I thought Redding should’ve been smarter by not getting pinned but that Valencia is going to be a stud but still. Then I expected a lot more out of Riggins and he looked so bad. Too lazy shots and the shots he took he couldn’t finish. Just all around the board we struggled finishing shots. Lots to work on but I’m not mad we lost. 5 starters out

If you want to see a "big heavy" look up Nicholas Sahakian, he's a massive human being, I believe Herrera wrestled Sahakian a year or two ago and Sahakian dwarfed Herrera

Of course it counts. He is 1-0.

I think people need to give Riggins a break. That kid for Stanford is really good.

133 - Grice got in, but couldn’t do anything with it. Even worse, he turned advantage positions into danger for no reason

141 - Valencia is playing a different sport. I would love to see him and Swid

149 - actually a really good win for Ech. Abas is tough, and after a slow start, Ech dominated

157 - I don’t want to say too much, so I’ll just say we got old man strengthed there

165 - I like Euton’s fight, but didn’t show any offense. I can see why he isnt a slam dunk at the weight.

174 - I thought Riggins was good here. That kid for Stanford will be in the mix for AA

184 - bad start, but great finish. It will be interesting how Bockman adjusts to true folkstyle

197 - kid is a stud. Absolute monster. Did he gas? Yeah, he did, but it was also his first college match against a good opponent, and he was pretty dominant

285 - full disclosure, I missed this one, so can’t really comment. Final score is great.

I understand that.

I guess my point is, if he’s the guy at 125 season long that’s great, but wish we could have weighed in another 125 to get their hand raised if he’s going to redshirt.

Maybe he’s the season long 125?

I know he will be fine but Etch looked small to me at 149. I know that guy was a tall/lanky 49, but I can’t help but think he would have more success at 41. I know wt cutting sucks but usually the biggest guys at the wt are usually the toughest ones to beat. Curious to see how 149 plays out!
I agree. One of Ech’s strengths is going upper body, and it’s really hard to go upper body on guys that are taller than you. I think he will end up encountering quite a few guys that are taller than him at 49. He might be more comfortable at 149, but I think he’d be more effective at 41.

Agree. I know it won’t happen but I feel like our best line up would be Ech at 41, Swiderski 49, Panerio 57 with chittum redshirting. And this would be best for Ech too. I know it won’t happen but would be best scenario.

He has 5 dates before losing his RS. No biggie especially when you have Osmany anf KT available soon. Clue…both are better than Meza at this stage.

Ech looked small to me last year too. He beat an All-American (149) tonight. I think he'll be fine at any weight.

FWIW, the 197 wrestler Carroll beat tonight (11-7) (Stennet) lost to AJ Ferrari (5-0) last week.
