I'm gonna guess they aren't in new construction. That interest hike really screwed me personally.
All my Construction clients are booked out over a 18 months - includes plumbers (i have a lot of plumbing clients), excavation, homebuilders, remodelers.

Car dealerships are selling like crazy.

Retailers are all better than last year.

Restaurants are doing better than last year too.

You can help make the Helmet Car come back. Just make a very generous cash donation .......................
I wonder if the helmet car is sitting under a dusty tarp in a barn somewhere, waiting to be discovered and restored to its former glory.

I haven’t been to a game since my son was born in 22. Would have tried to go to this one given the start, night game etc, but alas it’s my 20 year HS reunion and have friends coming back from across the country. Hopefully can make it up for UCF

I have two little kids so I’m out anyway but if I have the day free, sitting at home watching a bunch of games is just more appealing. Don’t get me wrong, I love going to about a game a year but that’s enough for me.

I think this is way overblown. The number of people that actually harvest grain isn’t that many. Every state, including Iowa, has other sectors that operate on Saturdays that employ a lot more people.
It has an impact, not sure how much, but ISU is definitely an AG industry heavy fanbase, and I know a lot of farmers that will not be going to a game until their crops are out, and that includes their employees and the support facilities workers.

And there are a lot more AG jobs that are working during harvest than just the farm owners. Hired men are working extra hours now, Elevators, Ag Sales, Implement dealers and mechanics, Chemical facilities, Ethanol facilities, Trucking, Railroads, anything that has to do with AG or supporting AG is working extra hours and weekends right now.

A lot of time people look at how many less "farmers" there are today and say there are less Ag workers. Well that family farm that was 500 acres 25 years ago that is now 5000 acres still takes about the same number of workers, and support industry facilities and workers. Just less are the owners and more are employees. Those hired men while not counted as "farmers" in the numbers people see, they are still working extended hours during harvest.

Threads like this make me feel like I’m an outlier. Not to dump on people because everyone has their preferences, but man I cannot stand watching ISU home games on TV. I would take being in attendance 100 times out of 100, no matter the weather, how bad the team is, etc. I guess it’s probably because I’ve had season tickets since pretty much the day I was born, but I can’t believe people would rather sit at home and not experience gameday in person. I live in KC now and still drive back for every single game I can

It's great for people with expendable income and stocks.
People always think the economy is bad in the moment.

It’s impossible to have every metric good since there are a lot good things (GDP growth and low unemployment) that drive bad things (inflation).

GDP numbers are good. Interest rates are dropping. Stocks and retirement funds at all time highs. Unemployment almost down to 4% while labor participation rate is up over 63%. We are on our way to 20 consecutive months where wage growth has beat inflation. Manufacturing construction investment at an all-time high.

It’s not perfect because it cant be. But looking at all the metrics, it’s really damn good. There are individual people and businesses that care about some metrics more than others. But broadly painting the economy as bad is simply false.

It's not you and WeWill, it's the whole landscape. When the guy from Barstool says he'll just buy a QB for $3m/year it shows me we'll never keep up in this race to the bottom. What's stopping a guy like Musk from simply giving a program 100m/year for players. That team would never lose. Unless and until the landscape becomes more equitable like the NFL, it's a losing battle.

As for We Will, are you prohibited from accepting money from the school directly? If not, I bet more people would gladly pay their annual donations knowing a portion is going to WeWill
That was pretty funny though. And on their pick em show they said Jackson Arnold’s agent reached out to him about the offer and Dave was like “they think I want this guy. He got benched at OU. He stinks.”

How are ethanol facilities, chemical facilities, railroads working extra during harvest? Facilities that process grain are 247 operations year round, using grain stored and shipped year round.

Farmers, people they hire to help with harvest and some people at co-ops and mechanics are working extra, or more import Working Saturdays. This is still not a huge number. It has an impact, but so do construction, healthcare, manufacturing, retail, and distribution workers that work on Saturday in Iowa and every other region.

I dont think that it has ever been scheduled ahead more than a handful of years at a time.

So, I dont believe that is a sign of anything, either for or against that game remaining on the schedule.

The renewal announcement keeps coming a few months later in the cycle each time.

2022-23 announced April 2017
2024-25 announced June 2019 (dates announced May 2020)
2026-27 announced Nov. 2022

I didn't paint it as bad. I think those that are highly successful find it very fruitful.

Consumer is on fire. Industrial, specifically ag-industrial, stell fabrication, etc. are getting their asses kicked. Bad stuff.
