The way this game is going I honestly don't hate the punt. Seems like the Defense could pitch close to a shutout while the offense is going to struggle to score. Didn't want to give Houston a shot at an easy one before half when we get the ball to start.
He had to punt there....you get the ball first, can't jet Houston get a cheap one

Yeah, they still had all 3 timeouts, too. Would have sucked bad to give up a TD there, or even a FG. Pretty obvious our offense wasn't about to explode for a scoring drive there either.

The positives:

- No turnovers
- One penalty for 5 yards, inconsequential

Umm, that’s all I got.

j/k, D pitching a shutout, thank god

What's the risk of going for it at the end of the half? Maybe give up 3? Cmon Campbell!
The risk? The risk is we give Houston the ball at mid field and we can easily go into half time tied or behind.

I think Matt felt our offense was stinking up the joint so he just wanted to get into halftime with a lead and an opportunity to make some adjustments.

I disagree that we have been "largely successful" by hanging around in low scoring games. Losses to Iowa, Ohio, KU and Texas just to name a few.

Main point is that in ISU's successful run over the years they haven't won in the typical high flying offensive explosions that tend to be associated with Big 12 football.

I'd guess low scoring isn't the right term but it hasn't been from some high flying circus act.
