Fine. I admit it. I DO want the 1990s Cynado logo to come back.

Always enjoy when you get the itch to post here.

I'm not a design guy, but conceptually, I think we should lean into the "cyclone" theme. More sirens. And not just the weak cranky thing at basketball games. They need to crank that up to 11. And get a hologram of a cyclone to float around Jack Trice Stadium and Hilton Coliseum. Come up with a cyclone hand signal.

Like I said, I don't know what the actual things should be. I just want us to lean into our unique and special cyclone identity.
I agree, they make fog style cyclone machines, throw some cardinal lights at it, seems like a no brainer

To go with this idea, every sport needs a retro game. Football should have 9 "normal" games, a Jack Trice game, a retro game, and a blackout game.

With some of your comments ... no. No modifications. Give me 100% garish or give me death.

If the Big 12 is going to be the fun cocaine conference, they should lean into this. Why not have a national primetime basketball game that is aired with retro 1970s graphics, the team wears 1970s uniform logos and, yes, even TJ comes out wearing plaid bell bottom pants and a huge collar shirt unbuttoned down to the navel and an afro wig.

Just picture it.
Don't forget, the tinted eyeglasses.

Or, let’s honor some other fine Iowa State institutions on the helmets… View attachment 134378
Let's sell beer in the maintenance shop again too. Or do they now idk. Also why is it called the Maintenance Shop?

I think a gothic satanic uniform with stained glass vibes would be sick. I have no good reasoning for why we would have that type of uniform, just do it randomly and not explain ourselves.

I'm all over the place this morning. Thank God it's Friday.

And the basketball players wear short 70's shorts.

There's no reason we can't cycle through the 90s cynado, I-state, walking CY, etc on the helmets. I assume we'll use I-State most of the time and that's fine. It's not like people will flip to our game and be bewildered by who's playing, especially in this day and age.

Exactly. I just don't get it. Someone is being really stubborn here and given Campbell has been wearing retro logos to press conferences, my guess is it's Pollard. I understand with marketing, you want brand consistency, but we've had the I-State for long enough that it wouldn't hurt to mix things up for a few games a year. Okie St does a great job of this. You never know what logo is going to be on their helmet and no one wonders who they are.

Now, this isn't a big deal in the grand scheme, but it would be fun to try some different things once in awhile. It's inexpensive to buy decals...especially vs different uniforms or helmets. Try helmet stripes, do the stencil I-State, mix in Trice Stripes, Walking Cy, Cy-Nado, etc. a few games a year.

My daughter is a Freshman at ISU this year. When we dropped her off, I told her I would buy her any ISU shirt at the bookstore. I was shocked when she picked the whirlybird logo. She said it was nostalgic.

One thing that always chapped me during the swirly bird era was the use of the fully texted up logo versions in the score line or ranking graphics on TV. Too much going on in a postage-stamp sized space. You couldn't tell it was a cardinal. You couldn't tell it was a tornado. You couldn't read "Iowa State Cyclones." And why would anyone use one of those versions when it always accompanied the team name anyway?
A chrome version of 80’s tornado like your avatar would be interesting to see as a uniform to mix in
