No, I don't think Arky, Baylor, Pitt are big time schools.

It's absolutely Napier.

It will take a complete collapse for Norvell to get fired after this season. They are a big disappointment, but with last year he probably bought himself one down year. I actually think BC is one of the more improved teams in P4. I don't know about GT. But at the same time, defensively FSU looks super soft and undisciplined. Expect a DC change first.

Brian Kelly will still end up 10-2 or 9-3 and end up in the playoff or just outside. I don't think he's in any danger.

Napier is the obvious choice but that schedule is so brutal that I think they might just let him take the Ls and start fresh in December.

Sam Pittman is the most likely P5 guy to get fired in season (I disagree on Arkansas not being a big time job).

Initially voted Kelly because I don’t think they’ll make the playoff enough in the next 1-2 years but i forgot about Napier at UF. Definitely gonna be him. Even if FSU goes 7-5, Norvell won’t be fired this year after going 13-0 last year.

I think both UF and FSU fire their coaches this year.

Things have changed in college football.
I wonder if Deion is the first call for FSU?

His kids are both seniors. Shadeur is 22, Shiloh is 24.

I’ve wondered if he keeps coaching at all once they leave. And can he build something from the ground up and sustain it? I wouldn’t call CU a beacon of strong culture at this point

I figure he's gonna try to run off to the the NFL with Shadeur, and then CO is left with nothing after he wins another 4 or so games this season.

Napier by a mile. Everybody else could salvage enough to just scrape by, but Florida's schedule is such that even getting to 6 wins isn't guaranteed. And the losses will come soon and frequent enough to pull the ladder out from under him. There really is no saving grace short of the most unexpected turnaround in single season history.

The buyout is stupid, but that's par for the course at these schools that are right on the edge of competing for Top 10 coaches, but generally have to punch above their weight class by offering longer tenures with higher buyouts. Unfortunately for Napier, this is not a time to get further behind your peers.

Why on earth would FSU entertain Deion? He hasn't accomplished anything at the P4 level. FSU is a really good job, they should have lots of options.

They should, yes. He did play there, and I recall some chatter about him going there before Norvell turned things around and got an extension.

I agree that there will be better options. I think Deion would be a disaster there, but I don’t think it’s crazy to say that he would be in the running.

They went 4-8 last year, just 1 conference win. Their o/u this year is 5.5. They just got by an FCS team in their opener. The only thing Deion has shown is that he can win at an HBCU by amassing a huge talent advantage. He has not shown a great ability to recruit at a P4 level. His gameday coaching leaves a lot to be desired. He certainly doesn't seem to be a great culture builder. All he is good for at this level is generating a media circus. CU needed the attention, nobody cared about their program. FSU doesn't have that problem.

CU is the biggest job Prime will ever have as HC. He will leave soon after his kids are gone, likely just in time to avoid being fired because the on field results never come around.

The one hitch for Florida with Napier is that UF currently has an interim president. Can an interim realistically sign-off on a $28M buyout? Or is that a decision that needs to be left to the person who is going to be stepping into the president role?.

Pittman is the answer.

With the B1G/SEC so far ahead in money, any opening in those conferences should be considered big time. Even the likes of Vandy and Northwestern.

That being said, Bielema could see some heat at Illinois. So could Beamer at South Carolina.
