Rivals put out a Futurecast—their version of a Crystal Ball—for defensive back Joshua Patterson.

Would be a very nice get.

It's between us and Wake Forest. His brother plays at Wake so it could go either way. Are we recruiting this kid as a corner or a safety?

So what positions do we still need for this class? Probably 2 more o-linemen, one more WR (hopefully a speedy slot guy), a DT, 2-3 LBs, 2 CBs. Anything else? I think we might skip TE this year because we land 2 every year and have a ton of depth there.
The way it looks to me…

OT
CB x 2 (assuming Ellens is indeed a FS)
NG
LB
M (though I haven’t seen one visiting)
OL (flex as to interior or tackle)

At the moment, I think that the situation at TE is like what hapened with Brahmer. If the right guy is interested at the right time, we take him. The kid from KC who was supposed to visit (committed to Utah) has the right stuff.

Same at other spots. If the right guy drops into your lap…

Oh. And only the first three seem relatively urgent—though not “urgent” the way that recruiting was for decades prior to CMC. The “omigosh, we need a starter here!” type of urgent.

That is so very nice!

I wonder if Ellens will be playing corner then.
Yeah I think Ellens and Patterson could be a position flexible guys but I believe both will come in as safety recruits. We play 3 at that spot and as physical as the staff wants them to play we need a lot of depth there. More than corner

We have too much safety depth. Need corners. But I do think some of the younger guys will play corner. It's just weird that we don't bring in too many true corners, we convert safeties and receivers instead. Whatever works I suppose. I think David Coffey will end up being a great corner for us in a few years.

It's probably self evident. High school CBs that project to P4 football are heavily recruited. CMC and Broomfield must have come to the conclusion that some HS WRs and Safties can grow into starting CBs better than the guys we could get from HS.

Tampa was a WR right? I know Sama was originally targeted for CB.

Tampa and Porter were WRs. There's a true freshman making the switch from WR to CB but I can't think of his name. I don't remember which HS safeties moved to CB.

Most targets are off the board at this point. Probably will wait until later in the year to see how seniors perform. We got several late season commits last year the staff raved about.
