So Reddit does the top 25 with throwback logos. Any idea when the ISU logo was used and for what?
I feel like this would be something, possibly a non licensed logo, alternate logo. And would be from the years we were known as Iowa State College, and prior to Cy becoming the mascot in 1954.
So if it is a real logo, I feel it would be somewhere in the 20+/- span from the mid 1930s to Mid 1950s.
My guess is it appeared on something, yearbook, program, ticket, etc, in a time when trademarks and copyrights were not as big of a deal for this type of thing. When logos like this appear to have come to existence more organically than they do now with design firms and trademarks and licenses.
That said I would like to know where this actually came from/appeared. Might be something you can as the people in charge of this post on reddit as to where they got it. And possibly the archives the library etc have.
Edit: Further research it appears to come from this site, but dont know where they got it.
It is possible these are from Art Evans? who did many logos for Angelus Pacific Co. of Fullerton from 1932 until 1977. If not by him they appear to be in that era and style.
