Is your relative being recruited by ISU? What are they getting offered if so? AND is the first column on their spreadsheet NIL, then they look at the other columns after they sort for ^ NIL$?
Just wondering how they are making the decision and how well the conversation went when they said their decision was based on the NIL$. That is what you are presently arguing against, not whether we pay NIL or that others try to outbid others' NILs.
So, let us know what your relative did with the conversation and whether they got their demanded NIL from ISU please. That will prove your point sufficiently.
He thinks he’s the end all be all because he helped his relative, probably Patrick Bath at Drake, with his recruitment. His relative was never contacted by ISU but because the citadel, Drake and sister Mary school of the blind talked to his relative about NIL, that is how it’s done at every school
He is not being recruited by Iowa State and actively playing college basketball. So I can’t comment on Iowa State. Apparently we are the only school not doing it according to my name is Jeff.
Well u know that none of our coaches broach NIL so there ya go. No wonder we are getting 3rd string backup centers from Wisconsin. I assume you are an assistant coach since you know what goes on during recruiting trips at Iowa state
Hopefully we never broach the NIL subject with recruits and keep getting blown up on the offensive line full of good character guys
OK, Technically MyNameEhJeff, you did say, "if a recruit brings up NIL or makes that a point of emphasis during their recruitment..." That bold is saying one thing and the italicized is saying another. You then joined them with an OR which makes it one or the other. So, he's got you there.
I and many others understand your point though and Drew is digging in one the bold and probably the italicized as well from what I'm sensing. I believe you with the italicized, I bet the bold gets done if it is not the only thing they care about. I think that is pretty much expected in a job interview, no?

If a recruit goes through his visit (which includes walking the campus, looking at the facilities, etc) then when they go into TJs office to get down to the nitty gritty and they instantly bring up NIL (or bring it up early in the conversation, since semantics are difficult for some people), that is when our coaches have deemed this player is not a good fit.

So what kind of bag was he offered at all the other schools you mentioned. Seems like you have first hand knowledge. Don't need to give specifics, you can say high 5 figures for instance.
I just pointed out to Jeff where you have him by the short hairs. He DID say that "if they bring it up", which I kind of think is not true. I can tell you with the people I have hired, if the first thing they go to is $, I'm not that interested in them, becuase I need a person who wants to be there first. Then it is OK to talk salary. That is what I suspect happens. Maybe more like you can earn your way to a good but not terrific NIL here and you will benefit from our team and coaching as well.
However, I do believe, based on what I have seen from the men that coach of 3 major sports, that if the player is not interested in the rest of the package or willing to look at the team aspect and just needs the NIL$ amount, they would kindly encourage them to play for one of our opponents.
Are you being obtuse and arguing the first part OR are you going all the way with the ISU is showing bag to attract young men to our team without any regard for other factors? I think this argument needs to be pinned down, before anyone gets too riled up.

No it depends on the school. Certain schools will tell you how much you will get at basketball camps and little things like that. Bigger schools were basically saying how much cash you get followed by other appearances and stuff like that. The smaller schools basically pay 1500 a month every month for fulfilling your duty to do basketball camps and extra 500 dollars to show up with the team at car dealerships to do autograph signings.
I’m saying if a player brings up NIL that does not make an ISU coach kick them to the curb. His original post he said that. That’s not true. Every kid should ask about it at some point. Also not saying that’s the only factor. Kid could mesh well with the coaches but NIL is brought up at some

If you’re hung up on what I initially said and aren’t willing to see further explanations I’ve given then you’re choosing to be ignorant and are wanting to ride your high horse because you saw recruiting first hand from smaller schools, and think that’s the end all be all and you know it all. You don’t. Accept that.

Jeff acknowledged his mistake and corrected himself to be more clear with his statement. That is the sign of a willing participant in a conversation / argument. You should probably acknowledge that. It is the fair thing to do.
Now, you provided the facts that I asked for, so that is also the sign of a willing participant as well. So, thank you.
I think where this is likely getting derailed is that there are some athletes that are NOT getting told that they can get ~25K to play for this or that team. Those guys are finding the right fit and then they get told there is an NIL appreciation.
What these folks are talking about is X QB from Y School walking in and saying I have an offer from Baylor for A and USC for Y, so what's your number? We aren't probably in those discussions and if we were, they would just say this place is not for them and they would be right.
So, can we agree that Jeff was not completely accurate with his statement, likely wrote something that was half correct and go on from there?

And Jeff, let's admit that Drew is probably dying on the hill that kids do get some idea of NIL if there is any becuase it is prudent and coaches will do that probably when the time is right and they feel a fit. AND not on the kids can ask for bank right off at ISU and get a spot. I'm pretty sure he was trying to argue the first point and it got personal.
