Well technically Colorado is left... The prodigal son of the Big 8, but your point is validThe one thing that could get me against Brett would be moving the basketball tournament. So I'm glad he wants to keep it in KC.
As far as the PAC 12 schools that are ******** about Vegas go.....there are 4 original Big 8 members left in this conference (Kansases, OSU, and us). We've saved many schools over the years and the other conferences didn't want to save us. So we better get some benefits from that
In the surface Vegas seems like the bigger stance and logical choice
But KC is a basketball town and I've never heard a bad word about any of it.

Bundling is always cheaper. Imagine the will ask for bids for bundling as well as separate. Take whatever is better.

All the 4 corner schools, particularly Arizona, wants Vegas. I wouldn't mind doing 1 game there, 3 games KC rotation. No games in OK or Texas as they don't have the attendance like KU, ISU, or KSU, where the fans show up whether the team is good or bad.
Viewership. Close competitive games keep viewers. Blowouts don't. Yes, the conference needs a couple top 10 teams each year. I think that will happen most years.
The logical thing has always been keep the basketball tournament in KC where it is supported well and football championship game in Dallas. With Texas and OU out the door may be time to consider rotating the FB championship to other venues in warm climates. Basketball does well in KC mainly because KU and ISU fanbases are 2 of the best in the country and support it well. KSU does too when they are good and I expect Colorado will probably travel decent to it again. It was really a blast with Missouri was still in the Big 12 as you then had 4 local fan bases that traveled well. The Big 12 did try Oklahoma City and Dallas before and the attendance apparently was good ( Big 12 men's basketball tournament - Wikipedia) but just don't recall there being a lot of talk about the kind of fanfare those events were that you get when the tournament is in KC. Given that Yormark is talking extending the agreement to stay in KC through 2031 it's going to be a long time before they get tempted to try another venue for even a trial run.
Why wouldn't Utah fans want the MBB Tournament to continue in Vegas? It's the most drivable location for their fans. No different than reasoning Cyclone fans want the tournament to stay in KC. I love the idea of keeping the MBB Tourney in KC, but starting next year 8 of the new Big12 won't have experienced KC for hoops. IMO taking a "my way or highway" approach is wrong with the new members.
If we are looking to the future, some change/compromise is necessary. I've said it in other posts, I wouldn't mind the FB championship to be rotated between Dallas, Phoenix or Denver. With hoops a rotation of KC, Denver or Phoenix might be good on a trial basis. But the later two have big shoes to fill for a permanent rotation.

It doesn’t really matter whether the conference steps up, particularly if the BIG and SEC add ACC schools. We aren’t commanding the cash either way, and what we get is more dependent on cord cutting
There are only so many prime TV windows, and that number is decreasing. Even if the Big 12 won the national title, the SEC and BIG will get the best spots, and more spots, on the next round of deals. The Big 12 will get what’s left. Winning more won’t yield much more leverage. The BIG and SEC will get better ratings
Yormark is the expert on all this, but I'd wonder if some cable networks or streaming services might be interested in basketball, but don't want to put up the big bucks for football.

I just think that whoever owns football rights would complain about what they're paying if they lose basketball rights, which are 'free' currently. I don't know the ins and outs but it seems like a fairly obvious complaint to see if that occurs.
