Ruttles and Davinci’s were also great.
When it was in that dumpy small building just west of HyVee
Forgot Indian Delight was there.i.e., the old Pizza Hut building.
...which later was Indian Delight, and is now Daytime Diner.
My grandparents have always lived in Ames. We would go there when I was a kid. I really loved their Hog Wild Burger.I was surprised when they closed because it always seemed to be busy when we were there. Granted, the last time was probably a couple years before they closed. Unique atmosphere and whatnot should have made it viable. But I guess that’s the story of most closed restaurants.
One of my favorites. There were 3 other Chinese restaurants around Welch at that time. One next to Home Team, Golden Wok, and another next to Tazzles (sp).Cocost
I think Pei's is no more as of early 2022.There brother was (is?) the owner of Pei’s in Cedar Rapids… good family
Is La Fuente still there?
Battles was my thought too, but I only had it in the 2010s version by the post office.Battles is the easy winner, circa 2002 before moving to Welch. Texas Toast and some of their Lemonade, hell ya!

The old place on Heyward (next to Jimmy John's) could seat a dozen people at most.Battles was my thought too, but I only had it in the 2010s version by the post office.
Honestly their burgers and wings were fine. My favorite part was probably their French fries. They were big crinkle cut.People's had a menu, it counts.
