Throw in the fact that the PAC has done a **** job of getting their network on content providers. The Big did a much better job of market penetration.

It takes a special kind of mismanagement to have the LA, SF, Seattle, Arizona, Denver, and Portland markets and still not maximize revenue.

The PAC is a fun league. It's full of marketable teams. They somehow just miss the mark again and again

The Big 10 market penetration can be attributed to Fox owning 49% of the network. Fox was able to get the network on normal tier of channels by negotiating with their other networks. For example, in order for New York to get the Yankees channel, cable companies had to agree to accept the Big 10 network. Huge leverage the Big 10 got with Fox

The PAC didn’t have a partner like that.

I think it is a challenge. Those are just not big College Sports areas.

LA has over 20 million people. Just getting the network on cable should be a fat check. Work in some kind of over the air coverage and maybe that's another revenue stream

There are far more people in the LA metro that don't have cable vs the entire population of Iowa.

There has to be enough degenerate gamblers and USC football fans to get some value out of their content.

A critical error.

In 2019 ticket revenue was just $2.5 million ahead of the bottom of the conference (Okie State) and the conference range was $13,911,000 up to $67,081,000. That is not good.

And they were last in the Big 12 in AD donations.
Mostly the ability to get corporate/business money, which has less impact on forecasting streaming value than the plebs that show up, which is the primary use of attendance as a metric. Although it hits in the idyllic PR narratives

If reports are true that they just viewed TCU and Houston as their best options in adding, I imagine they are begging the BIG for a lifeline right now. If they are not panicking, it is because they are resigned to a bleak future (or no future).

They need the BIG to bundle them into their network. But since the west cost doesn't care as much, they'll have to shed some institutions AND not get equal revenue sharing to avoid being a cost to BIG teams.

Houston averaged less than 27,000 fans in 2019. Season tickets cost as little as $100. How much ticket revenue are they getting?

Was Houston in the Big 12 in 2019?

And ISU was offering 3 game packages for $99...and those games included Iowa, UNI and Okie State.

Houston Stadium only seats 40,000. Season Tickets as low as $100. And they can not fill it.

2021 Iowa State is selling record numbers of tickets at record prices. Lowest price ticket this year is the Mobile Pass for $249. Upper Deck General Admission is $275.

There is a reason Houston was the last choice of Big 12 Expansion teams. But better than other choices like Boise and CSU and even Memphis.

LMAO. You mean a few tickets that one could easily make money on in the secondary market? That is not indicative of what you want it to be.

Has the weighted cost of tickets gone up while attendance has gone up, yes or no?

Ticket revenue is a tight balance in pricing, and realistically ISU has just recently had the demand to start getting on the side of boosting revenue through higher prices. Not only is ISU AD new to dialing in price points for different packages and seating, ISU fans still have some adjusting to rising prices.
For now being conservative on pricing to get attendance is probably the right move. Attendance and pricing are moving in the right direction, but I think a gradual approach is fine.

Since some don't know your pathetic, simpleton ways:

UT=$67 million
OU=$43 million
KU=$19 million
WVU=$19 million
ISU=$16.5 million
KSU=$15.9 million
TT=$14.3 million
Ok St =$13.9 Million
Baylor and TCU private

It looks even better when you add the Pac12 and ACC to the list.

No doubt we could use more subsidization like Iowa gets with Nebraska fans in the BIG.

PAC should be nervous. I hope we poach their blue bloods.
The Pac12 and ACC are dead, and the Big 12 is well positioned to add inventory on the way to becoming the 3 in the P3. It won't be the big brands, but it will be quality. Which will not be a bad thing. Better to be a leader in a P3 than to be the midget like Iowa and NU will be in the P2.

be careful, a rabid frothing at the mouth dog will attack you for posting an article suggesting the obvious that we’re in a transition from tv markets to actual viewers

I especially enjoy hearing him tell me what LA is like as I sit eating a late breakfast here.

The new conference is going to be the most fun P% conference. UCF and BYU fans are wild. I think Houston and Cinnci are going to get way better with a big boy conference brand behind them.
