If the B12 remains intact and moves forward

If Amazon is the plan, then you do what they tell you to do. If that means add 2 teams, then do BYU and either Cinci or UCF. I have a feeling they will want a larger conference though; I wonder if this all ends up in a Big 12/Pac 12 merger with Amazon buying the rights.

I think that last sentence was a real possibility pre-Alliance. If the B1G is gonna agree not to poach the Pac and the B1G/ACC are gonna play games with then every year, it changes the calculation. Ironically we might have been better off if the B1G had been equally as ruthless as the SEC

Eh, I think that was more just a middle finger to the SEC. The Pac 12 is still vulnerable; I don't think they'll sit around and do nothing, despite their statement the other day.

I think that’s a real possibility but the 20-school merger seems much less likely to me but who knows.

BYU should be the first choice of that bunch. Can make an argument for UCF or Cincinnati for the next spot, but I’d choose Cincinnati.

Though if this is (hopefully) a temporary stopgap, then you stop at 10 to keep the CG and round robin arrangement we currently have. Any teams beyond that is diminishing returns until any further realignments are settled.

I just can’t believe that any school worth having would agree to join without the remaining 8 extending the GOR. Refusing to do so would make it obvious that expansion is a stop gap and the remaining 8 are hoping to jump in 2025. I just don’t see a school agreeing to join without some commitment to longer term stability.

Amazon or Apple will get in the game and why not us? You listen to what they want to do if its 10 then ten if it’s 12 or more then you do it. Streaming is the future. Also each school can use their respective commentators like Walters n Heff. Radio and TV can work together at same time or can it not?

We’re back at the Amazon is going to save the day part of this.

man I hope something comes out soon, these circular arguments are wearing themselves out.

I still want to know how espn and Texas and Oklahoma are going to get out of paying the remaining schools. Somehow that one was never answered.

If they add schools, it means that the new and unimproved big 12 will be what it is going forward.

enjoy this football season, because if these folks get what they want, it will be the apex of Iowa State football.

I wouldn't want to go full MACtion and play on Tuesdays or something, but if we would get more money by adding additional Thursday and Friday night games, let's do it. The B1G recently added Fridays so there is clearly money there. I'd prefer not to compete with high school football but we gotta do what we gotta do.
What if it's prime time broadcast Wed. night not up against anything?

People, we all know how this turns out.

Inspired by an ISU Cinderella CFP National Championship victory, there is a sunden groundswell of support to save the Big XII.

2022 is an election year. The Governors of TX, OK, AR, and NE are all up for relection.

The new governor of Oklahoma, an OSU grad, tells OU to knock this crap off our you will lose a half billion dollars a year in funding to make up for the economic damages you caused to Stillwater and Tulsa. OU publicly denounces its application to the SEC and reapplies to the Big XII.

The new Texas governor, a Tech grad, not to be out done by the new OK governor, proclaims they are going to take back Texas from all these other carpetbagger conferences and promptly orders UT and aTm to apply for application to the Big XII or else they will lose a billion dollars a year in funding. They cry out "Remember the Alamo!" And promptly apply for admission to the Big XII.

Arkansas's new governor decides to end years of futility in the SEC and orders the Razorbacks to apply for admission to the Big XII.

Missouri, still pissed at getting stuck in the eastern division, says "Screw it. At least the Jayhawks gave a crap about playing us." They promptly apply for admission to the Big XII.

Colorado, pissed that the Pac 12 is going to unequal revenue sharing of one small ass paycheck, looks at Nebraska through squinting eyes and a cloud of bong smoke and says "Looks like the gang is getting back together, bro. What do you say? Are you in?" Nebraska immediately has flashbacks to the glory days of the 90's and starts drooling all over itself while nodding slowly.

West Virginia whines, "What about us? We need someone closer to play in the Conference!"

Everyone then looks at Cincinnati. Cincinnati then proclaims they would happily throw piss bombs and batteries at West Virginia. Mysteriously, numerous couches in Morgantown spontaneously burst into flames

Houston starts crying, "What about us? I thought we were taking Texas back!" Everyone looks at Houston and replies in unison "Shut the **** up Donnie!"

The Big XVI becomes the first super conference headlined by defending National CFP Champions Iowa State.
I'll have what he's having.

ACC commissioner said we hold value as a conference and that the big 12 is needed so expand and wrap up a streaming deal.

Holding out for a Big 10 invite by not signing a new GOR is probably fool's gold. I don't get the impression that Kevin Warren makes any bold decisions, Status Quo Kevin. Maybe we can work out a smaller contract, like 7 years, and see where the chips fall in 2032.

Serious question: What is the draw to wanting BYU? Do we really want them in our conference? They certainly have their views and don't play on Sundays. A trip to Utah sounds nice, but they just seem like the worst to me.

I agree, if we add schools, it means the remaining 8 are committing to the Big XII long term. This is where we have to depend on Jamie to have better information than us to make the best decision. If the Big 10 and Pac 12 have told us, sorry it ain’t happening now or in the future, then a new Big 12 is better than being one of the leftover two or three and ending up in the AAC or Mountain West. But if they’ve said, we might be interested when 2025 gets closer, then y”we’ve got to hold out. I trust Jamie to know what the best deal we can get is. But I recognize that the absolute worst case scenario for us is for the rest of the conference to break up and we are left without an invite to one of the other P5s.

Large national following, strong football tradition. Outside of Notre Dame, they're by far the best free-agent available.

You honestly think Clemson relies on their tv money as much as Iowa State does?

fun football in a g 5 conference ends up with an entirely different football coaching staff. And more than likely a new AD

New Big 12 is not G5. If you want to pretend it is go for it. Do you see us applying for admission to the AAC the Top G5 conference?

Big 12 will have access to new CFP and we will have a schedule that will have 3-5 Top 25ish games a year.

Heck right now our schedule has (3) games vs Top 25 and that includes Iowa.
