If the the PAC were to expand, I would set their priority targets as:

Tier 1: TTU, OSU
Tier 2: KU, ISU
Tier 3: KSU, Houston, Boise St, WVU,
Tier 4: Cinci, UCF, USF, Memphis, UNLV, CSU
Tier 5: Baylor, TCU, SMU, Tulsa, BYU, Tulane

Way up there
I don't think we will hear of anyone taking big 12 teams until the ou/ut stuff is finalized and we get the checks. Any cracks in the foundation and esecpn will pounce. It's unrealistic to expect to hear anything until that is straightened out. Too messy legally and way too much money at stake.

The current espn contract is the one aspect where the big 12 is actually in the power position, they are going to cling to that for dear life. Can't do anything to jeopardize that payday.

I think the PAC doesn't give a **** about Iowa State. Or regularly sending their athletes to Ames.

FWIW, I think we're definitely more appealing to the B1G. They still have the luxury of taking AAU status seriously.

But Manhattan Kansas and Stillwater Oklahoma are somehow mystical places of wonder and civilization?

have you ever been to either of those towns?

well maybe for your sake we can drop down to fcs and play non scholarship football with drake.

that would seem to make you happy

I am simply saying the most probable outcome is the Big 12 adding some combo of BYU/Cincy/UCF. That new conference will make less than our current conference. That doesn’t make me less of a fan nor does it suggest I would be happy with it. It’s the most likely outcome. It freaking sucks and I take no joy in it, but this is our new reality unfortunately.

Utah/CO/AZ/AZst
OKst/Tech/ISU/Kansas

It's in Pac's best interest outside the academic profile of Tech.

Unless the Big 10 decides it wants ISU/KU, I still think this is the likely outcome. Gets the PAC into 4 new states in the central time zones and adds inventory for their network that they can then pair with Amazon to pivot to streaming

This.

How the **** is this so hard to understand?

If the Alliance is happening, I think it is setting up that the Big 12 remains until the GOR expires, or UT and OU pay their way out. Once that happens, the other leagues swoop in. The ACC finally lets WVU in, B1G brings in ISU and KU, and the PAC picks up TTU, OSU, KSU and UH. TCU and Baylor go to the AAC to join back up with SMU.

You seriously don't think the B1G, ACC, Pac are having internal conversations about their own expansion plans?

I'm sure they've all been doing that. And I'm sure this agreement isn't meant to be forever. But I'm not so sure there's much mutual interest in the schools in those three conferences joining one of the other three conferences, at least as long as the status quo stays the same.

This is what concerns me about possibly joining the Pac 12. Could be jumping from one sinking ship to another.
That is definitely a possibility. However, I think the rest of the PAC, particularly if expanded, could entice USC and Oregon to stick around with uneven revenue distribution. Maybe not quite get them Big 10 type money, but close enough to keep them happy playing mostly on the coast and getting to be the big dogs of the conference.

UCLA is lame for football. Highly doubt the Big 10 wants them, but who knows. The best of the rest in a western package if they got USC.

If the SEC and Pac-12 are at 16. You bet you a$$ that the B1G and ACC are going to 16

With an "alliance of teams" amongst the 3 other power conferences. You probably don't have to worry about USC and Oregon going to the B1G. With all that.. I'm feeling REALLY good about a B1G invite, which would be the holy grail for our athletic department

Jack Trice Skybox project, Hiltion get's a big update, Jamie's commercial district get's built

Which UH is that? You can't mean Houston...

Texas showed that the uneven revenue model doesn't work. The big brands must recognize their league peers as equals, or they will always ask for more. The SEC and B1G have equal revenue sharing, and they are more stable for it.

I agree at least on the top 2 tiers. The only thing that I am hung up on is if the Pac-12 views this as a chance to get a stronger foothold in Texas. That strikes me as the best chance of ISU getting left out IF the Pac-12 elects to expand. I could see a world in which they want to go to 16, want at least two Texas schools, and the 3rd is OSU. Kansas football is horrible but they are closer in geography and have an elite basketball brand; they could get the 4th spot (or it could be a 3rd Texas school).

still think the most likely outcome is the Pac saying no expansion
