For those of you who have kids that are now "on their own". Did you notice much of reduction in expenses when you were no longer paying for everything of them? Wife said she wants to retire at first chance she can and that would happen in 7 years. Youngest would have one year of college done. Penciling things out and trying to see what that would require of me. Thinking without vehicles, insurance, food, extra utilities, gas, clothes it could save a decent chunk. I know it doesn't just stop, but trying to wrap my arms around this. Would also like to not have to work until my early 70s if possible.

Weeeellll, got a good life insurance policy on the wife?:jimlad::eek:

Mines better than hers, so I don’t discuss that too much. Her folks bought all these stinking 5-25k whole life policies and she has been adamant to keep them. Like dying via a thousand paper cuts. Got her to cash one in so it is a slow process.

She also heard once that I sorta have a burial policy; co-op dividends. My fuel coop makes you be dead to get them.

N dubs must have jinxed me. On way to VB game at my Alma mater, wife driving. Reminding me why I drive. She must have bought stock on a brake company because it no braking until the last 50 feet. Been time I thought she would drift around a turn( on pavement)

Was talking to the owner of the Taco King in Albert Lea, tonight while waiting for my order, they have had to add 4 people to their staff since the Covid hit. Carry out has really worked for them, that and people really supporting the buy local theory. Their food is just flat out excellent along with good service and they are nice people. Very seldom do you go in and not see either the husband, wife, or son working. Not just in the store but actually working.

So much Dodge talk and I nearly missed it. I need to stay better in touch with this thread. I've been to Scarlett's and Top Hat. Vaguely remember Hungry Eye. I would have been way too young to go there. I didn't realize there was a dance place in the Runway complex. How do you do a news story about Dodge and not mention Tico? I bet they didn't mention JaMar's or Tom Thumb either.

We have one basic family that has invited us to four this year. Three that will be a little wild (free bar helps that) and this one which will be more subdued.

So I just looked and I have 58 people on ignore, which is definitely more than I thought. I'll need to go and see how many are still active

At one time there were three business in the Runway complex - the Runway, the Rain Forest, and Master Jack's. Kinda like one-stop shopping. I tended bar at the first two for a couple years. Really liked working in the Rain Forest, it was a very upscale place.

I have four Cyclone fans, one hawk fan iteration that I don't even remember and Tuco (jayhawk fan) when he actually was Tuco. One of the Cyclone fans I don't think posts anymore. Another I blocked because she managed to turn every thread into a jilted lover thread about our former BB coach. Another one is an asshat that is probably one of the most common non-cave posters on ignore lists out there. I have tried to not use the ignore button much because I don't want to just hear points of view that are congruent with mine but some people are just too much.

Its almost the end of August and I've still only had 2 beers.

With football season being weird I might go until Christmas before having another one.

No McDonalds at all this year too. What have I become?!?
