No academic or music letters period. And even if they were conference or state champs, no letters for the girls. Pre Title IX, y'all.

I'm not familiar enough with the subject but I know Iowa was ahead of the curve by quite a bit when it came to girls sports. Maybe it wasn't perfect (6 on 6), but it drew huge crowds back in the day for the state tournament.

We had tennis & gymnastics for female sports. Not much participation opportunity when you have 1600 students in a three year highschool. Oh...and girls could NOT be lettermen. No academic or music letters either. Times have changed. :)

Long story short on how I just learned this, but my dad's cousin, around Boxster and KC's age, couldn't be in marching band. Only boys in HS marching band, girls were in orchestra.

Ugh, marching band. I hated marching band. Did I mention that I hated it? Practice in August - the hottest weather of the year - and then practice in uniform, which weighed approximately 78 pounds not counting those goshawful hats.

Not only were they difficult to balance, they made you look like a Cossack or something.

We had tall hats similar to that as well. Plus black wool uniforms. 4th of July parades were a true joy. We usually marched in 3-4 of those each summer.

Nearly had a very bad night. Driving down highway 100 and a couple of sticks flew off the top of one of the big trucks they are using to carry away tree debris. Due to a car next to us we had nowhere to go but run over it. Turns out one went right through the lower grill on the van and narrowly missed the radiator.

There is a local farm near me that runs a produce store out of their barn. I stopped by yesterday to pick up some tomatoes and some corn on the cob. I really need to go there more often.
Ate two ears of corn, took the rest and cut it off the cobs, blanched it and froze 4 freezer bags.

Thank God you didn't say and then ate it after cutting it off. ;)

Well managed to find a hitch pin on the road yesterday unluckily it was with my tire. Wish it was one of my fronts that I was wearing down to replace with good snows this winter but no it had to be a rear with at least 2/3 tread left. $120 or so later and all is well. Well will be after I pick it up after done with work today.

Did the TC's burn down overnite? I saw Waltz was activating the guard as I fell asleep last nite. Wasn't sure why though.

After the Derocho I think those folks in SW La, Eastern Tx are screwed. I hope I'm wrong.
