I go back to my point earlier in this thread. Standing next to a playing marching band is "damage your hearing" type loud.Or simply not played their instruments.

It is a freakin' marching band. It's not a military unit. "Break rank". C'mon.

If they just march quietly through, I honestly don't think there would have been any problems.Or simply not played their instruments.

This is typical in just about any marching band.
I thought they are supposed to wear ear plugs?I wouldnt go that far. Otherwise we'd have a lot of deaf marching band members.
I was in HS marching band, and one thing we're taught is to not let anyone "break rank", no matter what, we were supposed to make people/crowds go around the band. I'm assuming the Iowa band operates under a similar mindset, which just makes the fact they were intentionally sent that way, to a massive crowd of people, even worse.
So that makes it less ridiculous?

Nothing wrong with a band keeping people out of its ranks. But it means the band needs to be aware of potential issues with that and avoid things like pushing into a crowd.

Many of them if not all of them wear earplugs.I wouldnt go that far. Otherwise we'd have a lot of deaf marching band members.
Murph now calling the integrity of Chief Newton in to question.
Not when going through a crowd. This is typical in just about any marching band.
Who *&%$@@ in his Cheerios? I don't understand the angle here.

No one is suggesting they were purposely trying to hit anyone, but c'mon, maybe NOT play your fight song and swing your instruments while trying to get through a highly congested area. Common sense here.
