Hilton has lost its luster....

and it has a lot to do with the lighting...

Supposedly they changed the light fixtures idk like few years ago? And that affects upper deck lighting..well it sucks...it is like sitting in a morgue.

I can’t believe others in the AD and b-ball program haven’t noticed and asked for a change.

Hilton has changed and it isn’t good. The once magical arena isn’t all that intimidating to opponents when 2/3 of the place is in the dark.

Lighting isn't the only reason it has lost its luster, but I agree that it was a horrible move.

I'll totally agree that it now looks like a generic anywhere arena on TV now rather than the old classic Hilton. Being able to see the crowd really get into it made it a great show for TV.

Lighting and this coaching staff piling up the home losses are the 2 major reasons. I completely agree, I've been to games every year, its just not the same atmosphere anymore.

The new lighting doesn't look good on TV - like others said I liked the old lighting showing the whole crowd. I don't think the new lighting impacts the actual atmosphere inside Hilton one bit.

Lighting doesn't bother me when I am there, can't speak to it on TV.

I think the crowds are less intense, but I'd put 60% of the blame on cell phones, 30% on the inane videoboard events, and 10% on people not being as intense about sports as they used to be (ie more families and less rabid crazies).

Count me in on not liking the lighting. If I want to go watch something in the dark I'd go to a movie. It just does something to the whole ambiance to be sitting in dim light.

I'll also agree it doesn't look as good on TV. I miss seeing the angry old people...

What was the point of dimming the lights in the balcony? Is it the make the court look better on tv or something? I don’t like it, it makes Hilton look like a single level arena on tv with a blacked out balcony.

Oh for ***** sake. Honestly, I don’t notice much of a difference in the lighting. But before it was changed people complained and wanted it changed.

First, very few Iowa state teams have gone undefeated at home. To act like two home losses is unusual is silly and stupid. Most good Iowa state teams don’t lose to a TCU at home. But traditionally most good Iowa state teams don’t win on the road. So it is what it is.

I wonder if you people wake up and decide “I’m going to see if I can ***** about the stupidest thing today”? First a grown mans ties and the fit of his suit? And now this?

I for one am glad that I had a chance to meet this young man and, boy, that's just a straight-shooter with "upper management" written all over him.
