It was because him and Dickson Jenson hated each other mainly

Sounds like he is doing well. Maybe getting out of the DSM/Ames area was what he needed. Whether it be due to his condition or whatever else, he alienated a lot of people in the area over the years.

I liked him since the first time I saw him play in person during Minnesota HS Tournament. He had the high scoring reputation but that night had a bunch of assists from feeding the hot hand of one of his teammates while pasting up his own shot. Can't remember the other kids name but he also played Div 1 later at UNI.

I don't think I was aware Jake struggled with OCD. Examples cited in that piece, I can't imagine how debilitating it was. He knew it wasn't normal, but couldn't make it stop.
