I have been very pleased with the minutes that George Conditt has been giving us the past few games. He plays pretty good defense and looks good on pick and rolls too. I think a year of eating/weight training will help him immensely, but happy with how he is playing now. I also feel the experience he is getting now may be more valuable than a redshirt.

Way up there
I like his length and size but its his defensive instincts that really stick out to me. Seems like he always gets his hands on the ball or in the passing lane. There were a couple plays where Culver drove, NWB would knock the ball around and George was able to either get his hands on the ball or even grab it. Pretty impressive for a guy his size. I was happy with how he looked in the non conference honestly, he's only added to that. The guy could be a future big 12 defensive player of the year. Really excited about him over the next few years.

In very limited minutes he is 7th in blocks per game in the Big 12 and he is FAR AND AWAY #1 in the Big 12 in blocks per 40m at 5.8 per 40minutes.

When he gets starter minutes I'd be shocked if he isn't over 3 blocks per game.

TH is 9th in blocks per game but he's playing 3.5x as many minutes.

The story when he signed was that he was definitely a project type guy with a high ceiling. Either that analysis was off or he’s grown in leaps and bounds since he got to Ames.

Very impressive that he’s been able to crack the rotation and continue earning more minutes.

I also thinks it speaks highly of this coaching staff's ability to develop players. As another example, look at the incredible progression of Abdul under Prohm & Co.

One of the few guys who appears to be taller than his listed height. No way he's only 6'-10".

Best part about him is, he is still getting full understanding and control of his body. The amount he shot up (in inches) in the past 2+ years is a lot to put on a body. Only freak athletes/specimens (ahem *Anthony Davis*) don't lose a step. You can tell he is still figuring it all out, but the fact that he has been as effective as he has is a huge positive moving forward.

As is obvious, and many others have said, once the rest of his body catches up with his height he is going to be a lot of fun to watch.

And he loves ISU and his teammates. Him and Tyrese never seem to be in a bad mood.

Didn't he play on some national team this summer? I always like when our players do that - or go to those sponsor camps.

Anything against higher level competition prepares them to produce.

Honestly I thought he looked like a project early on in the season. He just didn't seem to try and do anything offensively. Just set picks and pass the ball but these last couple games he's really stepped it up. Defensive energy, shot blocking and running the floor has been very impressive. I think maybe he's just feeling more confident now that we're a ways into the season.

It was a big thing for him to be leading the break for that dunk in a close game on the road against a top 10 team.

Moments like that can be a big leap forward. That was about as big a moment as it gets shy of the NCAA tournament or a late conference game that could clinch a title.

When I watched some of the U18 FIBA games this summer when he played for PR I thought I saw more than a project. Kid impressed me especially since I had heard 'project" and the like so wasn't expecting as much as I saw. Lots of blocks and boards from him in those games.

He's one of my favorites to watch this year. He's just a puppy, but in another year or two he's gonna be a BEAST.

Haliburton and Conditt have been pleasant surprises this season. In an ideal situation both would have benefitted from redshirting a season to develop physically and add about 20 lbs to their long but thin frames but due to injuries and suspensions they got thrown to the fire and have far exceeded anyone's expectations. The future is bright for these 2 guys and Prohm and his staff really did a great job identifying the potential and getting them to sign here. THT got the most press being the high rated recruit of the bunch but the other 3 guys in this freshmen class have just as bright of futures here too. I especially love watching Haliburton and Conditt really get after it on defense and find ways to get their hands in passing lanes. Haliburton especially just seems to have a knack for the ball on both ends of the court and makes some impressive plays for a freshman.
