I think with conditioning and aggressiveness on the feet we win 184 and 197 fairly easily.

Promising start with the surprise pin at 125 but 174 was awful and 184 / 197 just couldn’t gut it out. It was there for the taking.

I had 174 losing by tech when I was predicting the dual. Pope is pretty decent and we don't have much at that weight.

in each match I’ve watched Sam wrestle he is the least conditioned wrestler. He shows flashes of being explosive but can’t be active or he’ll gas. He has to be able to settle in at the weight and that includes conditioning. We don’t need another 230 pound heavyweight. Sam might just be a tweener for college weight classes. Probably suited for 220.

That Wyoming kid is no world beater.

Some positives but some disappointments too tonight. Work in progress. Should see marked improvement beginning next year and I'm really looking forward to years 3 and 4 under Dresser. That's when we turn the corner I believe.

I think we're already starting to see improvements. I"m excited to see what a month long layoff brings.

Would Bush be the best option going forward at 174? Kept it close against Coleman at the UNI Open.

Probably but impossible to say until we see him against decent competition at 174 - at 184 he beat up on D3/JuCos but generally lost to D1 guys. Based on the limited sample we have from 184 I'm not confident he'd win many more matches but I do think he'd be losing by decision instead of giving up bonus.

That's not a knock on Coleman being decent competition - I just never put a lot of stock in head to head matchups between guys who are probably workout partners on a regular basis. Familiarity breeds close matches.

Felt really good after our reserves had some good results at uni open today and then the varsity goes out and lays an egg.allison gets an A for his pin and straw gets credit for pulling an upset but the other 8 performances were subpar. if parker and pestano are going to qualify for nationals those are the type of guys they gotta beat. degen and harrington both seemed content with decisions vs inferior opponent instead of working for bonus points, not gonna complain about 65 and 74 cuz we all knew we would get pounded there. I know its gonna get better but these duals are hard to watch right now.

Frost not the problem
We have many problems, he however was not consistent or very good tonight which didn’t help. The way to keep that from affecting the meet is to be more aggressive and don’t let him be the one determining the outcome.

Impressions:
We didn't lose the match because of the ref
Not a lot of offense in general
We were never in the match at any time at 141, 165, or 174.
Come from behind victories at 125 and 157 were impressive.
149 and Hwt were solid victories, even if we didn't get bonus.
133 and 197 were disappointing losses.
I didn't see any lack of effort at 184.

Allison opens up the meet with a 2nd period pin! He almost got pinned himself at the start of the match but he fought out of it, got back in the lead before the 1st was over, and then in the second he got turn for the win. That's awesome for a guy who was part of the wrestling club not that long ago.

ISU up 6-0 after the first match.
Showed a lot of sand. Had me again thinking how the coaches have brought a new attitude to the team. Sadly, that didn't last too long tonight.

Just asking out of curiosity. Some of the lop-sidedness in the scores of our duals are due to losing by bonus points. Just hope the guys continue to grind it out and take to the coaching. Any small amount of improvement matters..It might not show by March, but in the grander scheme of things.
