I've heard so many good things about this trail that I want to give it a try. What I've read it has surfaces of asphalt, concrete and crushed stone. Right now I only have a road bike with 700x25 size tires. My question is about the crushed stone section and whether others have run thinner road bike tires on it. I talked to a guy that says he does it "all the time" but wanted to see if others have experience on it. I do have Gatorskins on my bike. Any other info on the trail would be helpful. We may try and camp during our time on it.

Rode it last year for peddlars jamboree on a 700x23. No problems. But just so you know, probably 90% of the trail is crushed limestone. It's best when it's not wet.

I've heard Pedllars jamboree is a good time can you fill us in with more info on it?

I've wanted to do that trail for a while too.
Finally got around to riding the Root River last year and it lived up to the hype.
