What is your take on him? To me just doesn't look like a power 5 conference player. I am not sure what the big deal is. You would think I am attacking someone's family member. lol
Your take is as valid as any, and I agree you don't just take players to take players. But I'm sold on this kid, and I consider myself a tough grader. (Important: Assuming he really is at least 6'4") To me, he's got great lateral quickness and a nose for the ball on the defensive end, with decent straight line explosiveness. Athletically I think he has potential, and statistically he's not totally raw. He looks like a plus defender right out of the gate, and he'd have three years to work on his skills. I'd take him over Cole-Johnson. And, everyone has correctly pointed out that there aren't many options at the moment. I like this guy.
None of us are in charge, and thank God for that, right?

There is also no difference between a scrub and a scrub that recently qualified.

I am just not impressed with his numbers or his film. I would prefer they take a guy they know can contribute next year or wait and sign a higher rated kid for next year.

I always find these posts odd. Do you honestly think anyone cares one way or another if you are impressed?

Wut? I thought this was a message board? I am sorry. I will amend my response. I don't have one opinion on this player. He could be good or bad. I don't know and I don't care. Sign him or don't sign him.

Drama queen. I'm just saying that you aren't opening up a conversation with that lead off, you're simply making an uneducated declaration and expecting others to respect your snap judgments.

I don't care one way or the other if that's how you want to go about your business, I'm just thinking out loud on how awkward starting a conversation with 'I'm not impressed' is.

This guy would contribute more than McNeill this year. I would bet my paycheck on it.

P5 player. Not a world beater. Not a scrub.

Ok. Could be ok. will probably find out real fast if ISU is serious about him or simply just reaching out to evaluate some more. It will be interesting to see if some new grad transfer names pop up. Seems like they are waiting on a possible player. Of course, we will never find out who if they don't become available.

If you watch the video you can hear the announcer say in one of the highlights against Pratt he had thirty-something at that point...he ended up with 45 that game.

Scored over 20 his last 3 games of the season.
Thanks for letting me know! I was just looking at the Cowley website, and thought I was looking at his points, but guess I was looking at PPg. Whoops:rolleyes:

My quick eval on Simms is based on his being close to 6'5. As I mentioned before he demonstrates all the skills you want from a SF. He has a good shooting stroke, good handle, can post up if needed. In other words is an immediate mismatch player. He's not a grad transfer, he was a freshman and those skills are pretty good for that stage despite the level of competition. He won't be amazing right away, but he's got decent potential down the road imo. At worst he's a versatile scoring guard with good build that can slash or shoot from the perimeter.

Some other highlight reels taken from high school

What makes you say that?

He said it in an article posted yesterday about all the offers he has received lately. He is from right around VCU and if you look at the VCU boards I guess he spends a lot of time there.

FYI he was just offered by Pitt as well.

You're on the wrong board if you don't jump for joy over every kid. If he's coming then they are "sold" or "want". If they decommit....they didn't want anyway..or he wasn't going to play that much.
Look at the Jacobsen thread. When it was first brought up to get him...many said practice player or walk on, or we didn't even offer him......now that he's here....good luck convincing anyone he's not "really solid" or possible starter.
So yeah...if you dare call a guy a bench guy or not be impressed by every guy....the girls come out of the woodwork like you insulted their family crest. It's pretty funny actually.

We thought walk-on because we thought we had Juiston and/or Morrow and/or Kasongo and/or McNeill. Situations change, I think everyone would have taken Jacobson over Carter and Kasongo, it just wasn't the need at the time with what we had on the roster and how many scholarships we had open. You never answered my question from that thread if you would rather have Jacobson, Carter or Kasongo? How about Beverly and Brase? Rank those 5 for me if you would, people are happy because the situation has changed a lot and we upgraded our roster.

Upgraded? We lost a top recruit, missed on Juiston, missed on virtually every high level transfer. We got Shayok but I'm guessing 95% of us had no idea who he was before he committed.

Don't get me wrong I fully believe Prohm will eventually get the roster he wants, and I'm a huge believer in Terrance Lewis....he will be an absolute superstar...but I'm not sure how one could call this spring recruiting/transfer session a success.

Lol I'm guessing 95% of people didn't know who Deandre Kane was before he committed
